Daniel Dubois says there is room for improvement in a rematch with Anthony Joshua if AJ chooses to fight him again. Dubois wants to be “more clinical” next time he faces Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs), and he thinks he can.

It’s hard to imagine Dubois improving on his performance against AJ last Saturday night, as it was near perfect. It could be disastrous if Dubois tinkers with his relentless, bomb-away style to incorporate more boxing into his game.
Joshua has yet to utter a peep about taking the rematch, and he may choose to avoid Dubois and focus on going to the money fights. He could next collect a massive purse to fight Tyson Fury, which is what his promoter Eddie Hearn is interested in.
Last Saturday night, Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) knocked Joshua out in the fifth round in a successful defense of his IBF heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium in London. Joshua talked about wanting to become a three-time champion, and he seemed too confident to do so.
“Yes, if it happens, I will go for it. I will do even better next time. I know what I need to improve on. I just want to prove people wrong all the time, and that’s what we did. Next time I believe I will be more clinical,” said Daniel Dubois talkSport Boxing about his interest in a rematch with Anthony Joshua.
It would be better for Dubois to put Joshua out of his mind and focus on more realistic fights. He probably won’t get a chance to beat Joshua or the winner of the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 fight to fight.
Dubois’ performance against AJ could scare off the top guys as their management will focus on more winnable fights that involve bigger paydays. The realistic options for Dubois are these fighters:
–Joseph Parker
– Zhilei Zhang
– Dillian Whyte
– Martin Cole
“Or one. Whoever pays me the most,” Dubois said when asked if he would prefer a rematch with Joshua over fighting the Fury-Usyk rematch winner.
