The disqualification controversy
The winner of the fight will hold the IBF title of 147 pounds and will be in an excellent position to get profitable fights against Conor Benn, Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney.
Donovan (14-1, 11 COs) suffered his first career defeat earlier this year, and disqualified in the eighth round for the flat Crocker (21-0, 11 COs) after the clock. Referee Marcus McDonnell, DQ’D Donovan, 26, on the spot, giving Crocker an eighth round DQ victory. This is not the ideal way Crocker wanted to win, but he did not want to complain.

Saturday’s Crocker against Donovan 2 Rematch is expected to take place in front of a large crowd in Windsor Park. The stadium has a capacity of 18,500. Even if it is not sold out, many fans will still attend to see how these two Irish warriors fight again.
Unfinished business in Belfast
“He’s done,” Paddy Donovan said after the match about Lewis Crocker.
“My camp was good,” Crocker said.
“That’s not what I heard, kid. It’s all for you. I will put it in bed once and for all. It’s a big night for you, Lewis, in Belfast, a big, big night, a child, ‘says Donovan.
Donovan dominated their fight in March last year, dropped Crocker in the eighth, cut him over both eyes and had his way with him. Crocker looked like a physical wreck by the eighth. If the fight was not stopped by referee McDonnell in that round, it is doubtful that ‘the crook’ would have lasted much longer. He recorded too much punishment from Paddy in the eight rounds.
The six months that Crocker was out of the ring could give him a good breakdown to solve the mistakes he last made against Donovan and with a better game plan.
