Do beer and golf mix? This 805 Beer x Devereux Golf Collab Says YES!

So, 805 beer AND Devereux Golf they are coming up with a collaboration.

With apologies to the late, great Tom T., let me say this about it.

I like beer.

Makes me a good cheerful friend.

I’ve had a long and mostly fruitful relationship with beer. These days, my beer consumption is limited to a good non-alcoholic IPA. However, in my youth, I did my fair share to increase shareholder value at Anheuser-Busch, Rolling Rock and Corona.

So while today’s Medicare guy may not be the right demographic for this collaboration, it’s right up the alley of the 1996 version of me.

805 Beer x Devereux Golf: A sweet collaboration

805 is a blonde ale brewed by California’s Firestone Walker Brewing Companyfounded by Adam Firestone and David Walker in 1996 (sadly, I was stuck in Minnesota at the time). The brewery is located in San Luis Obispo, where the area code is, wait for it…

805.

805 Blonde Ale it’s a golden, light-bodied drink that makes it the perfect post-round drink. Or, if you are that kind of golfer, it’s a delicious target fluid to keep you rolling during the round.

With that kind of vibe, the 805 was a golf collaboration waiting to happen, which brings us to Deveraux.

805 Beer and Devereux Golf collaborate.

Devereux Golf is one of those lifestyle apparel companies that blends traditional golf aesthetics with a contemporary edge. Founded in 2013 by brothers Robert and Will Brunner (and named after their grandmother and avid gamer Deveraeux Brunner), the brand is known for high-quality fabrics, premium details and story-driven collections.

It’s also a collaboration waiting to happen.

So what happens when these two crazy kids get together? They give birth to the Outlaws of the Fairway Collection. My 1996 self would wholeheartedly approve.

What’s in this Outlaws of Fairways collection?

The lineup is pretty standard overall. However, the distinctive 805/Firestone Walker branding adds a distinct edge. According to the press release, the collection is “rooted in shared values, craftsmanship, storytelling and the belief that the best moments are made in good company.”

of the collection itself features a pretty cool wool sweater with the Firestone Walker logo on the back ($85), as well as some printed sleeved shirts ($74-$78 – I’m partial to the long-sleeve version), a beer keg leather beanie ($54), and a retro rope hat ($38). A microfiber logo towel and graphic tee round out the offering.

Considering the cost of higher-end clothing these days, those prices officially qualify as “not bad.”

Do we need another “collaboration”?

Of course not, but “need” has nothing to do with it.

That’s the thing about clothing in general and lifestyle collaborations in particular: it’s a good thing. However, for any stick to stick, it takes a story to make you open that old wallet. it 805 Beer x Devereux Golf Outlaws of Fairway the collection, according to press information, is about fun that never ends 18th green. One good round must inevitably lead to another.

Not exactly a new approach, but one that has been proven to be effective.

Co-ops are meant to be fun and, as we’ve said many times before, golf is a game and games are supposed to be fun. If the style, vibe and attitude of the Outlaws of the Fairway collection make you feel good about buying and wearing it, so much the better.

And if it makes you feel happy, it’s like beer. For me, whiskey is too harsh, champagne is too expensive and you don’t want to know what vodka used to do to me.

So this little refrain should help me explain, actually, I like beer.

And cooperates.
