The 16-year-old clocked 6.68 to beat Mark Lewis-Francis at the England Athletics Age Group Championships in Sheffield.
Devine Iham, Britain’s prodigious young sprint talent, was one of the stars of the opening day of the England Athletics U20/17/15 Indoor Championships in Sheffield on Saturday (7 February) as he broke Mark Lewis-Francis’ European Under-18 record of 60m 6.68.
Ihem, 16, of Radley AC, won the men’s under-17 title on a day when Plymouth’s Annabelle Fasuba, daughter of former world champion Olusoji Fasuba, also won the women’s under-17 title despite being just 14 in a record time of 7.36.
Meanwhile, Sophie Thomas of Dunfermline broke the Scottish junior record as she took the women’s under-20 crown in 7.33.
Divine Iheme runs to a UK Under-18 and Championship best of 6.68, two hundredths off Mark Lewis-Francis’ record.
