Direct talks with Osimhen’s camp on Wednesday

As expected, it has been another busy transfer window for Chelsea Football Club.

Ensuring they stay on the right side of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules has meant even more creative bookkeeping and sales of players such as Conor Gallagher who are believed to have wanted to stay at the club.

There are now just three days, including Wednesday, left to get last-minute bids on the line, so talks must come as soon as possible if clubs are to secure their targets.

Chelsea and Osimhen to continue talking

A deal that has so far been a soap opera is for Victor Osimhen.

For various reasons – the player’s refusal to reduce his salary, Napoli’s refusal to lower the asking price, etc. – the deal has remained on hold, but Wednesday could be a major breakthrough.

That’s because, according to CaughtOffside columnist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there will be more direct talks between all parties.

There is a Saudi Arabian option available to the player as an alternative, although it seems clear that he has his heart set on the switch at Stamford Bridge.

It’s still not guaranteed though, as both Jhon Duran and Ivan Toney are also believed to be on the Blues’ shortlist for strikers, so if the West London outfit don’t get the deal they want, they could simply walk away of the negotiations.

That would leave Osimhen with no choice but to move to the Saudi Pro League, the 68th best in the league (TeamForm).

At 25 years of age, this is likely to spell the end of his career at the highest level of European football, which would be a downfall for a player who was largely responsible for getting Napoli their first Scudetto in more than three decades the previous season. .
