Diego Pacheco has chosen not to continue negotiations for a fight against the highly ranking #1 WBC contender for the 168-pound interim belt and could instead come to the recently clever, uninjured Trevor McCumby. This is the disappointing part.
McCumby (28-1, 21 CO’s) was knocked out by Caleb plant on September 14 last year. It was the first time in McCumby’s career that he fought a top opponent, and he was out of his league. Trevor, 32, was low at the time. He is now out of the top -15 ranking after the defeat.
Mbilli: You are risky?
It appears to be a calculated move from the Pacheco (23-0, 18 COs), because the fight against the unbeaten Mbilli (28-0, 23 COs) would be risky for the still green 24-year-old fighter. Pacheco is now in a position to challenge the united three-belt super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. If he were to lose against Mbilli, he could forget the big payday against Alvarez.
Pacheco is the rankings of #1 WBO, #2 WBC, #6 WBA and #11 IBF at Super Middleweight.
Lance Pugmire broke the newS of the Eddie Hearn-promoted Pacheco who pulls out of his talks with Mbilli.
It seems that Pacheco promoters do not want to take any chances by beating him by Mbilli because he is not a solid fighter to guarantee a victory against this level of an opponent. If the idea is to win Pacheco long enough to make the mother load with a Massive gold mine The fight against Canelo, to keep him away from Mbilli, is the way to do.
There is too much money on the line for Hearn to throw in the Stork-like Pacheco with Mbilli and look at him Are cleaned. Pacheco is a good fighter, but he is not infallible. He makes mistakes, and if you do it against Mbilli, it can lead to a knockout loss. Pacheco is seen as a poor man’s David benavidez in the eyes of some fans.
McCrumby is not quite a risk -free battle for Pacheco. He hit his push, but he’s usually just a pot-shot fighter who gets out quickly if he can’t score a ko. As long as Pacheco is not caught by one of Trevor’s big real hands early, he must be able to take him out in the second half of the fight.
