This week, we break down the epic victory of Scottie Scheffler, Bryson Dechambeau’s performance in Korea and the last Caddy movement in Tour.
Scottie Scheffler dominated at CJ Cup Bryson Nelson, closing with a third round of 63 or better to win from eight Over Erik van Royen. It was Scheffler’s first victory in 2025, after his Epic 2024 season with nine wins. So… what did it take so long?!
Josh Sens, elderly writer (@Jossens)): First, a tragic ravioli-making incident This avoided it for a magic. Then a run with the reality that profit is difficult and often comes with the smallest limits. Scheffler now has nine beginnings this year and this to tell about it: a win, a competitor, five 10 best and not a single lost cut. What a slacker.
Sean Zak, elderly writer (@sean_zak) :: Other people went into the street. Rory Mcilroy, for one. Justin Thomas being another. Scheffler was probably 85% just as good this year as it was last year – and that 15% is just enough to let one or two boys have their best week. Just a game with numbers, but the numbers he decided this week should scare the rest of the field, included Mcilroy.
Josh Schrock, news editor (@Schrock_and_Awe) :: A little rust and good game by Rory Mcilroy, Justin Thomas and others kept Schefflerin out of the winner’s circle. Before the masters, Scheffler admitted that Ravioli’s injury returned it a bit and that while he was painless, his hand had to be strengthened, which led to the ball-like non-Scheffler. It was just a matter of time.

The victory is Scheffler’s first in the nine starts this season; He had four in 10 starts at this point last year, on his way to seven. Which side of the fence are you: that this is the first step of another Scheffler Scheffler summer? Or is it a very unrealistic last year’s total to match?
Sense: I think we can rightly expect a scheffler burnt wine. But yes, last year’s total was so weird, I don’t see him matching him, which does not mean that he may not win even the year player for the third season. Many golfs left.
ZAK: Yes, I think this exhibits the top. I think he wins three times this summer, at least one of them in a major. Last year’s total is too unrealistic to match, but who cares?
Schrock: Will he win six times this year? Maybe not. But I fully expect him to overthrow some more and win the first non-pens of his career. Put it for Oakmont, a title protection on travelers and at least one event on the play off.
Also victorious this week was Bryson Dechambeau, who Won Liv Golf Korea to see his year. With the PGA Championship just two weeks away, who needed this first win more, Bryson or Scottie?
Sense: Hard to say that or really “needed” a victory. But I would give the Scheffler knot. He had some narrow calls and non-characteristic obstacles to the point that he showed some very external signs of disappointment, and even border snippy-ness in some of his exchanges with the press. For a guy like in peace with himself as Scheffler, I think you can say that dry magic had begun to eat a little with him.
ZAK: I think it’s Bryson. He had left the victories to slide several times in Liv. And that kinda let the masters slide. So the start of the day with a bullet and the locking of the door was good to see. You can bet that he thinks his best is even better than Scheffler’s.
Schrock: Definitely is definitely bryson. He held the lead with 36 holes in Miami and withdrew from Marc Leishman. He scored well in three rounds in Augusta, and in a way he kept the early Sunday’s lead before ironing to play his chances of winning. He held a 36 -holes last week in Mexico, but lost to Joaquin Niemann. If he had lost to Richard Bland or Charles Howell III, I think Faith would have got a hit going to Quail Hollow. Scottie could have finished T10 this week, and my opinion on him would not have changed. Had Bryson blow up a four -stroke lead in Korea, I would go down to his chances in two weeks. While standing, I think he is the best chance (only?) In a person not called Scottie or Rory winning in Quail.
Brandt Singeker (USA) and Geoff Ogilvy (International) were announced as the Cup of the Presidents Cup for the September 2026 event at Medinah Country Club outside Agoikagos. Like the elections? And why could ogilvy be the boy who ended the drought of the international team?
Sense: Safe both the liked players who have been long enough to win the respect of their peers inside and outside the course. Can the boy be ogilvy? Perhaps he has a great record of the match, including two wins in the WGC Championship. But after all, I think the influence of the captains is overestimated in these events. Captains do not hit shots or strokes. PEP talks and strategic pairs go so far. After all, it goes down to the players. And no matter how you move things, the US still has the strongest team.
ZAK: I think we are seeing the Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson’s result both are not available to the captain now. This age of the teams had to be led by them, nor are they nowhere to assume that position. So we take KEEGAN to the Ryder Cup which his game can deny-and a non-meter winner but Generally “good guy” on the Singeker. Is this enough? Does it matter? I’m not sure he does. But something Ogilvy tells me will do a good job (in the loss) and then maintain the position for the next Cup of Prez, in his homeland, in Kingston Heath.
Schrock: I like choices. I’m not sure they matter. If the US will continue to attract six of the top 10 players in the world every two years, the international side certainly does not have much chance. I don’t think Ogilvy leads them to victory in 2026, but maybe in 2028 when they play in Australia.
sense: Many, especially in the short term. Sometimes, it is just the psychological change that comes with making a change. I don’t want to dehumanize the player-caddie relationship, but I think there is an analogy that should be done with the seeming magic in the wake of a putter and suddenly draining every blow you see. You start to feel better, building confidence and a positive reaction loop begins. For the benefits to endure long -term, although there must be more dynamic than just that sudden rush of sugar.
ZAK: A new caddy can have a ton of influence … in both directions. That is why there are so few changes! Because behavior of a new person in that walk, walking and gawking is a vibrant shift that players will notice. From the way Morikawa explained, it sounds like this was what was looking for-a living displacement. Probably during the quarrel mostly.
Schrock: Vibe relocation can help Morikawa overcome the lump if it immediately turns itself into strife. He has not played badly, but when things feel out, it’s time to change things. If taking Greiner in the bag helps to give him a different Sunday when he is in quarrel, then the mass was worth it, but ultimately it is in the Morikawa to execute the shooting below the stretch when it is under pressure.
