Devin Haney practices with Shane Mosley in Big Bear, California, to prepare himself for his fight against Jose Ramirez on May 2 on May 2 at Times Square in New York.
Working together with the retired former three divisions world champion Mosley is a sign that Haney (31-0, 15 CO’s) knows he is facing, and is fighting the American Olympic Ramirez (29-2, 18 COs), which can hit a bit.
Ramirez, 32, is working on his power play with coach Robert Garcia for this fight, hoping to record a knockout. Former WBC and WBO Light Welterweight Champion Ramirez’s promoter, Oscar de la Hoya, believes Haney a ‘Shot‘Fighter of his loss of three knots against Ryan Garcia on April 20 last year. If Oscar is right, Devin will not last long against Ramirez.
Sinking ship?
Mosley is a good coach, but he cannot convert Haney into a lion by giving him magical power that does not exist, or his fragile, glassy chin prepares to help him resist the blows Ramirez will hit.
It may be that Mosley is just the latest captain of Devin’s sinking ship, and he can’t keep him away from the storm coming to him on May 2. Haney can just leave Dad, Bill Haney, at the helm of the helm and try to navigate through the Hurricane of the Pilothouse. If he loses, it will be interesting to hear what Bill comes out of.
Haney has a few things against him in this battle with Ramirez. He was a good year inactive, and he had a bad loss. Being inactive may not be a big deal if it does, but the fact that he was injured in his loss of Kingry at four separate occasions. The cumulative beating by Haney could leave him vulnerable to Ramirez’s bumps.
“We are (still) unbeaten in the ring,” Bill Haney said Cigar talkReveal the loss of Devin Haney who has been wiped out and he is still unbeaten in his match against Jose Ramirez on 15 days on May 2 at Times Square in New York.
