The knock marked Jurel’s first List century and career-best score, instantly entering Uttar Pradesh folklore with multiple records in one innings.
Dhruv Jurel rescues Uttar Pradesh after early wickets
Uttar Pradesh were reeling at 92/3 when Jurel took 3rd place. Openers Abhishek Goswami (51) and Aryan Juyal (26) provided a steady 77-run platform, but quick wickets threatened to derail the innings.
Jurel initially steadied the proceedings along with captain Rinku Singh who scored a fluent 63 off 67 balls. Once installed, Jurel flipped the switch, turning consolidation into direct dominance.
The most amazing stretch of Jurel’s shooting came after he reached three figures. He went from 100 to 150 in just 19 balls, breaking Uttar Pradesh’s record for the fastest List A fifty of all time by a team innings.
His final tally included 15 fours and 8 sixes to take UP to 369/7 at a strike rate of 158.42 – their third highest tally.
After Jurel found his pitch, Baroda’s bowlers had no answer. Fast bowler Rasikh Salam endured a gutsy outing as he conceded 55 runs off just 14 balls to Jurel – the most runs conceded by a Baroda bowler in a List A innings.
The attack symbolized the mismatch between batter and bowler during Jurel’s heyday as boundaries flowed to all parts of the ground.
Highest individual List A score for UP
Jurel’s unbeaten 160 overtook long-standing records to become Uttar Pradesh’s highest individual List A score. Passed by:
- Aryan Juyal 159 vs Maharashtra (2022)
- Madhav Kaushik’s 158 not out against Mumbai (2021)
The innings also eclipsed Jurel’s own recent highs – 80 against Hyderabad five days ago, 67 against Chandigarh – highlighting his rapid upward curve.

Jurel’s knock at 24 only bolsters his credentials amid ongoing debate surrounding India’s back-up wicketkeeping options, particularly with the Rishabh Pant-Ishan Kishan debate dominating selection talk ahead of the New Zealand ODI series.
It was Jurel’s third consecutive fifty in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and took him to 307 runs in the competition. His recent India A twin centuries against South Africa further enhance his white-ball resume.
