Pembury Country Park, Llanelli, saw Griffiths win the men’s race, while Lauren Cooper won the senior women’s crown

The change to Prorbury’s usual course was announced just nine days before the event, but it did not stop Dewey Griffiths from winning yet another Wellesley senior cross country title, his ninth in more than 13 years.
However, all were relatively close as Belagavi’s Thomas Chaston passed the holder, but both were well clear of Dan Nash in third.
Chaston’s all-time best in the United States, though, came in sixth at the British Olympics, Steeplechase Trials, Running 8:42.21.
Lauren Cooper not only took the women’s race but also led her PontyPridd Club to the team championship as she regained the title she last won in 2022.
