South Africa’s young sensation Dewald Brevis caught a stunning baton in the fourth match of the SA20 2025 between Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town. Brevis showed the full range of his athleticism and ripped off a beauty at the boundary.
It was a full-length delivery on the stumps by Kagiso Rabada but Faf du Plessis tried to play an inside shot over the covers. However, he cut the ball and it went towards the deep cover boundary where Dewald Brevis settled.
The tourists’ short boundaries and the wind wanted to take the ball over the ropes, but Dewald Brevis had other ideas. He moved to his right and took the catch cleanly before flicking the ball into the air after realizing he had gone over the boundary.
He came back and eventually lunged forward to keep the ball clear. Dewald Brevis was perfectly balanced at this point and it was easily his best game of the season so far.

The youngster was clearly over the moon after taking one of the most sensational wickets in the history of the tournament and he immediately ran towards bowler Kagiso Rabada to celebrate the big wicket.
The rest of his teammates followed suit, with Joburg captain Faf du Plessis stunned as he made his way back to the pavilion. This is one of du Plessis’ favorite shots, but he failed to make the right connection this time and was dismissed for 30.
MI Cape Town were rocked early by Joburg Super Kings
Earlier, Super Kings won the toss and elected to field first. MI Cape Town were rattled early by excellent conditions and excellent bowling for the bowlers at Wanderers. They were reduced to 30-4 in 8.3 overs and were on the brink of their lowest score in SA20.
Devald Brevis, who batted brilliantly in the first match, was dismissed cheaply here. But George Linde had other ideas and took another look down the order. He received great support from Delano Potgieter who displayed brilliant batting skills after his impressive bowling in the last match.
Linde scored an unbeaten 48 off 35 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, while Potgieter smashed 44 off just 22 balls to give his team a brilliant finish. Potgieter hit 4 fours and 3 sixes during his knock. It was a superb bowling performance from Super Kings as they reduced the opposition to 140-6 in 20 overs.
Joburg Super Kings start their campaign with a win
In reply, Joburg Super Kings didn’t start well either and lost Devon Conway early. Leus du Plooy steadied the innings while Faf du Plessis bowled aggressively.
Jonny Bairstow came in at No. 4 but was bowled cheaply by Rabada before rain stopped play. Rain did not allow the game to resume and Super Kings were eventually declared winners by 6 runs as they were ahead on the DLS score.
