Devin’s 147 strength will Norman Jr

Bill Haney boasts how much “stronger” and “faster” his son, Devin Haney, is in training camp for his title challenge against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. in Riyadh on November 22, 2025. He says Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) “is in trouble.”

Devin’s power transformation at 147

Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) says he has made improvements in his power by moving up to fill weight for the welterweight division at 147 from his recent 144-lb catch fight against Jose Ramirez on May 2, 2025.

For former two-division world champion Haney, 26, to use his newfound power, he’ll have to stand still to land on his shots. Against Ramirez, Devin threw quick combinations and then either ran or held. If he hits harder in camp and works out with Troy Isley, he may feel confident enough to go it with Norman Jr.

Haney vs. Norman Jr. will feature in the 12-round co-feature slot on The Ring IV, David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde meeting meet on DAZN PPV at the ANB Arena in Riyadh on November 22.

Bill’s confidence reaches new levels

The way Haney has been hurt in fights against Vasily Lomachenko, Jorge Linares and Ryan Garcia makes it hard to see him surviving for long against Norman Jr. No matter how good a training camp Devin had, if his historically fragile chin betrays him, he won’t last long against Norman Jr.

His power is on a different level than the guys Haney has hurt in the past, and he only needs to have one good moment in the fight to end things.

“On November 22nd, you’re going to get a chance to see what I just saw,” said Bill, probably celebrating the success Haney has had in sparring. “It’s no secret. We brought in some big boys (Troy Isley and Charles Conwell).”

To face a true equal in Norman Jr.

Bill has led his son, Devin, this far in his career, but the gout can take its toll on Norman Jr. be. This is not a lightweight that Haney will have the size advantage against. He was facing a guy this big, but with brutal strength that would make it hard for him to stand still for more than a moment.

“Obviously I’m moving up to a different weight class. I’m stronger than I was before, better than I was before, mentally and physically,” Haney said of his move to 147. “I’m a big guy. 135 was extremely hard to make. 140 was hard to make. 147 is more my natural weight class.”
