The Arizona Diamondbacks missed the postseason in 2024 after making the World Series in 2023, finishing with an 89-73 record.
Although the Diamondbacks had a record that was 16 games over .500, it wasn’t enough to get them into the playoffs.
The MLB offseason was full of big free agent signings, and the Diamondbacks are the latest team to add a star player.
Free agent starter Corbin Burns signed a six-year, $210 million contract with the Diamondbacks.
More details about the signing have been released on social media.
According to “X” of USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, Burns received a $10 million signing bonus and is guaranteed $70 million over the first two years of the deal before he can opt out of the remaining $140 million over the final four years.

Nightengale revealed that Burns received a significant signing bonus when he signed with the Diamondbacks and is guaranteed $70 million over the next two seasons.
Burns was the top free agent starter this offseason, and the Diamondbacks were a bit of a surprise team to sign him.
After entering the league and playing the first six seasons of his career with the Milwaukee Brewers, Burns pitched for the Baltimore Orioles in 2024.
In 2024, Burns started 32 games with a record of 15-9 with a 2.92 ERA and 181 strikeouts in 194.1 innings.
The 30-year-old ace will now pitch for the Diamondbacks for the foreseeable future, and he’s proven he can make the postseason if the team can make it.
