Deonte Brown (17-0 (11) defeated Grimardi Machuca (17-3 (14) with a unanimous 10 round decision to win the vacant Continental Americas Super Featherweight title Friday in the Commerce Casino, Commerce, California.
In the first three rounds, the previously unbeaten Machuca comes from some losses, and wants to fall back into a close battle. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Brown Machuca exceeded.
In the sixth and seventh rounds, Machuca continues while Southpaw Brown sits with his left. In the last minute of the eighth round, there was a clash of heads when referee Thomas Taylor both checked.
In the ninth round, brown, with his hands to his side, Machua shows. In the tenth and last round, Brown seemed to be ahead while Machuca had problems.
The scores were 96-94, 96-94 and 97-93.
In the co-function, Bantam weight Saul Sanchez (21-4-1 (12) finished in a majority of eight round draws with Edwin Rodriguez (12-9-3 (5).
In the first three rounds, the aggressive Sanchez had a lead six years ago to avenge a loss of Rodriguez. In the fourth by the sixth rounds, Rodriguez opposed well and took the round.
In the fifth and sixth rounds, Rodriguez was more aggressive at the beginning before moving backwards. In the seventh round, Rodriguez had a lot of swelling under his right eye and the ringart was checked between rounds. In the eighth and final round, Rodriguez had a lead in a near round.
The scores were 78-74 Sanchez, 76-76 and 76-76. Gerard White was the referee.
The Light Welterweight Angel ‘Sharpie’ Perez (10-0-1 (8) knocked out Sachin Rohila (8-4 (2) at 2:04 of the first round of a scheduled four-round match.
In the first round, Perez landed a left hook to the body, and down Rohila went to the Earl of referee David Solivan.
Super Bantamweight Cornellio Phipps (6-0 (2) defeated Jesse ‘Super’ Mandapat (9-3-1 (5) with a six-round decision.
In the second round, Phipps Mandapat injured the chin in the first minute with a left hook and took another round. In the third and fourth rounds, Mandapat came back well and won both close rounds. In the sixth and final round, both had their moments. In a close battle, Phipps may have won.
The scores are 59-55 Phipps, 58-56 Mandapat and 58-56 Phipps. Gerard White was the referee.
The light Welterweight Criztec Bazaldua (6-2 (1) lost a close unanimous decision of six round to Darrian Castro (4-0 (1). Bazaldua scored the only Knockdown.
In the second round, a counter straight from Bazaldua to Castro’s chin dropped him for an 8 score of referee David Solivan. Castro immediately got up and fought back well. In the third round center, Castro Bazaldua hurt with a combination and took the round.
In the last minute of the fourth round, Castro draws blood from the mouth of Bazaldua with an upper hand. In the fifth round, Bazaldua returned in a near round. In the sixth and final round, hands on his side, Castro went to the body of Bazaldua in a close battle at the end.
The scores were 57-56, 57-56 and 58-55.
Super-featherweight Jorge Unyce Ruiz (2-0 (2) stopped Prince Martin (1-3-1 (1) at 1:46 of the second round of a scheduled four rounds.
In the second round, referee Thomas Taylor called a standstill for the competition.
Super Featherweight Narek Hovhannisyan (2-0 (1) Eric Howard (7-4 (2) knocked out of the fourth and final round at 0:42.
In the fourth round, referee David Solivan called a stop.
Welterweight Kamari Burnside (2-0) defeated Obed Sepulveda (1-9, 1 CO) with a unanimous four-round decision.
The scores were 39-37, 39-37 and 40-36. Gerald White was the referee.
Light welterweight Isaiah Garcia (1-0) defeated Clayton Hibbert, 2-10 (2), with a four-round disqualification. In the fourth round, referee Gerald White Dq’d Hibbert.
2020 Olympic Shakilya Ellis (1-0) defeated Maria ‘Polvoarita’ Salinas (27-13-6 (16) by a unanimous decision of six round.
In the first three rounds, Ellis had the lead over the aggressive salinas. In the fourth and fifth rounds, the former Olympic Ellis counteracted the four-time world title-challenger Salinas.
In the sixth and final round, Ellis became the aggressor and dominated the match against Salinas.
The scores were 60-54, 58-56 and 59-55. Thomas Taylor was the referee.
