Promoter Oscar De La Hoya directed his comments at Edgar Berlanga, Devin Haney and his favorite verbal punching bag, Canelo Alvarez.
Berlanga’s Puerto Rican heritage under fire
De La Hoya went on to fight New Yorker Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) over his Puerto Rican claims. Oscar notes that Berlanga became upset that he said he was not Puerto Rican, and he dared to show his birth certificate to prove his heritage.
“Edgar Berlanga, I called you out for not being Puerto Rican. I simply spoke the facts,” said Oscar De La Hoya on his Clap back Thursdays. “So you got embarrassed and posted a 14 year old picture of me that the world has already seen a million titles and meme.
“Why didn’t you just mail your birth certificate from Puerto Rico unless you don’t have one? Don’t tell me you’re another cripple offended by the truth. Come on, brother.”
De La Hoya will likely continue to beat Berlanga until his fight with Canelo on September 14th. It should be interesting until then. Those two are headlines DAZN PPV. The price of the event was announced today at $89.99. Fans on social media went berserk over price, and they’re unhappy about it.
Haney’s Fairground Fiasco
“In other news, Devin Haney had his comeback fight last week at the Orange County State Fair,” De La Hoya continued. “I don’t know if you’ve seen the full video, but Devin throws a punch at a burger, all while standing in front of the ferris wheel and he misses. Bro, your dream has officially turned into a nightmare.”
In the grainy video that went viral, Haney appeared to throw a punch at a stocky person, who some say works at the fair that operates one of the amusement rides.
“As always, the most important topic of each week. Canelo, (bleep) you,” De La Hoya said.
There is still some animosity between De La Hoya and Canelo over their past.
