De La Hoya blocks Ryan Garcia vs Jake Paul Fight

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya has ruled out Ryan Garcia stepping in to face Jake Paul as the replacement opponent for his November 14 exhibition match on Netflix in Miami, Florida. De La Hoya says Ryan (24-2, 20 KOs) is under contract with DAZN and Golden Boy Promotions. He declares that it is “business”.

Ryan has not commented on whether he is interested in facing Jake. His name has been mentioned among several others as a possible replacement opponent for Jake to fight on November 14th.

De La Hoya draws the line

“I’ve been getting calls from reporters about Ryan Garcia vs. Jake Paul. Let me tell you why this fight isn’t happening. Ryan Garcia is fighting on DAZNand Jake Paul fights on Netflix,” said promoter Oscar De La Hoya Fight Hub TVwhich rules out Ryan Garcia being the replacement to face Jake Paul on November 14th.

Jake Paul’s originally scheduled fight against Gervonta Davis is in jeopardy due to allegations of domestic violence from Tank’s ex-girlfriend. If he is replaced, the lucky fighter who steps in to take on Jake could receive a massive payday.

“That’s pretty much the end of it. Golden Boy has a contract with DAZN. Ryan Garcia has a contract with Golden Boy, and that’s just the way it is,” De La Hoya said. “This is business. Ryan Garcia is probably going to go on a rant and say, ‘Oh, you’re keeping me from making money.’ No.”

Oscar looked annoyed today and talked about Ryan not being allowed to face Jake. Garcia did not push for the fight himself. His name was mentioned by others. Of course, he would probably be happy to walk to receive the large purse that Tank Davis was expected to receive of $40 million. It would be a career-high payday for Garcia.

Legal walls between platforms

“You have to by the law, by the rules. You have a contract with DAZN. You have a contract with Golden Boy. It doesn’t happen like that. Again, Ryan Garcia’s next fight will be announced by me, who he fights, and when he fights next,” De La Hoya said.
