The WBA lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis will defend against Lamont Roach on August 16 in Las Vegas. It is a battle intended to clean up the controversy of their previous battle on March 1, which ended in a 12-round draw by the scores 114-114, 115-113 for tank and 114-114.

In that battle, Roach (25-1-2, 10 costs) tank (30-0-1, 28 coes) nailed with a stitch, causing him to take a knee. Instead of the referee Steve Willis a knockout, he raised the tank and went to his corner to clear his eyes.
Roach: The Uncrowned King?
Tank asked for no time -out. He just walks to his corner, like the boss, and is attended by his coach. Later Davis said he should have it hair fat cleaned out of his eyes. If referee Willis made the right decision by achieving it a Knockdown, Roach would have won. It is clear that Willis will not be the referee for the re -broadcast, and the excuse for hair fat will probably not be allowed for the tank if he tries the strategy again as an excuse.
Interestingly, the New York Commission did not overturn the results of the first struggle by deciding it as a no game or giving Roach victory. There were many boxing fans who hoped they would do it because of the controversy of the ninth round. They felt that the ninth round incident was not a rash-determining factor in the fight.
Roach will be glad he gets a second chance on fighting tank, because the money will be good. So, even if he loses, he will still get the second major payday against the King of the Lightweight Division.
Mentally prepared, tank?
Davis should fight much better than he last showed him to win, because he last came down by Roach through Roach. Tank did not seem to have his thoughts in battle. He distracted and not spiritually engaged.
