David Ortiz weighs in on Juan Soto possibly joining the Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox have nine World Series titles in franchise history, the most recent coming in 2018.

After that title, the Red Sox make the postseason once every six seasons, and they have to deal with the New York Yankees in the AL East.

However, the Red Sox could turn those tides if they can land superstar free agent Juan Soto this offseason.

Red Sox legend David Ortiz recently gave his thoughts on the possibility of Soto joining the organization to El Vocero de Puerto Rico.

“I see him on the Red Sox, I really do. If nothing else happens, I’m doing my job with him, too,” Ortiz told Boston Strong through

Ortiz played 14 seasons for the Red Sox, and it appears he would like nothing more than to see Soto with his former team next season, rather than the Yankees or elsewhere.

Soto is the top free agent this season after hitting .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBI and a .988 OPS in his first season with the Yankees.

The Red Sox haven’t won the AL East since 2018, and if they can find a way to sign Soto this offseason, they could have an advantage over the Yankees in 2025 and long beyond.

Soto entered the league in 2018 with the Washington Nationals and has played with them, the San Diego Padres and the Yankees during his relatively short MLB career.

It would take a huge amount of money to sign Soto on a multi-year contract, but such a deal could make him a member of the Boston organization at the peak of his career.
