David Banavidez says he doesn’t like the idea that Terence Crawford is moving three weight classes to challenge Canelo Alvarez for his undisputed Super Middleweight Championship on September 13. Benavidez mentions that there are ‘weight classes for a reason’, and believe it can be too much for Crawford (41-0, 31 food).

“I don’t like it just because Terence Crawford arrives three weight classes,” David Benavidez said to the Ring Magazine channel about his thoughts on Canelo Alvarez who defends his undisputed Super Middleweight Championships against Terence Crawford in September.
Benavidez makes a good point. Crawford essentially moves three weight classes to challenge Canelo on 168. He does this without a setup to accommodate himself, which is a carefree thing for him to do.
There is also the inactivity at Bud Crawford. He comes from a year-long discharge, and it’s been long for any fighter to be inactive before adopting an elite champion.
Benavidez doubt Crawford’s 168 pound move
“I don’t want to say that he (Crawford) doesn’t have the ability to hurt him. He does, of course. He is really technical, and he is a wonderful fighter. Sometimes three weight classes are different, ‘Benavidez said Terence went too far with his move to 168.
Canelo-Crawford doesn’t even look like a real battle. It is more a golden parachute, a final payday for soon 38-year-old Crawford before retiring. He showed that he was not the talent or the desire to swim with the Sharks at 154. So he will not return to the division for a lesser payday to remove the younger fighters.

“It’s like me when I go up and I’m trying to fight Anthony Joshua or ‘Gypsy King’ (Tyson Fury by Heavyweight). I would believe I could win if I wasn’t beaten, but if I hit, you should be worried about it. We will see. You never want to count Terence Crawford, but there are weight classes for a reason, ‘says Benavidez.
Crawford has already shown that he reached his upper limit when he moved up to 154, and worked after a dubious unanimous unanimous decision of 12 round over WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov, last August. The size and power of Madrimov bothered Crawford in that battle, and he probably lost.
Terence scored favorable points, which saved his skin, but the supporters saw what happened. He reached the point where he could no longer dominate as before. The size, power and youth of Madrimov were a nightmare for Crawford.

Now Terence goes up two extra weight classes and gets an immediate title against Canelo without working for the opportunity. Turki Alalshikh stuck him.
