There will be no more empty space next to Daria KasatkinaName when she competes – on the contrary, an Australian flag.
Former Bota No. 8 and No.12 currently announced Friday that the request for permanent residence was accepted by the Australian government.
Tegliatty, local Russia has often expressed mixed feelings about its country’s politics. Kasatkina, who came out as homosexual in 2022, was asked last year if she thought she had hope for change in Russia.

“Australia is a place I want, it is very welcoming and a place where I feel completely at home,” Kasatkina wrote on social media about her decision. “I like to be in Melbourne and I look forward to doing my home there. As part of this, I’m proud to announce that I will represent my new homeland, Australia and my professional tennis career from this point on.
“Of course, there are parts of this decision that have not been easy. I want to express my thanks and gratitude to my family, coaches and all those who have supported me throughout my tennis journey to date.
