Sydney Thunder all-rounder Daniel Sams has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 Big Head League (BBL) season after suffering horrific concussion. Daniel Sams suffered a concussion following a collision with teammate Cameron Bancroft on January 3 against the Perth Scorchers.
The all-rounder was hospitalized earlier this month after a mid-game collision with teammate Cameron Bancroft that left him with a season-ending nose and shoulder blade fracture. Sams began a mandatory 12-day concussion rest period, during which he flew from Perth to Sydney.
Daniel Sams cleared concussion protocols this week
The 32-year-old cricketer cleared the concussion protocols this week and was fit to play in the Sydney Thunder’s final regular season match against the Sydney Sixers on Friday. However, during the concussion recovery, a side injury was discovered.
Sams had briefly left the field with side pain prior to the concussion incident, but returned to the game. After further medical examination, Sams was confirmed to have a season-ending side strain, ruling him out for the remainder of the tournament.
