Daniel Jacobs leans Crawford over Canelo: Skills Benefit?

Daniel Jacobs says he leans to Terence Crawford who wins against Canelo Alvarez on September 13 due to Crawford’s skill. Former two-time middleweight champion Jacobs believes that Crawford (41-0, 31 COs) has the lead against the undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo (63-2-2, 39 COs) in the offensive statistics division.

The only thing Jacobs questions is whether Crawford can slow down Canelo with his power, because if he can’t do it, he’s going to run down to drop off his bigger shots all night. Crawford couldn’t do that and moved up against Israil Madrimov at 154 to 154 a year ago.

His power did not act from 147, and he took many blows from the stronger Madrimov and was very lucky to have the victory. Many fans thought Crawford lost. I watched it and won Madrimov by 9-3.

BIVOL -COMPARATION defect

“The biggest difference between Bivolol and Crawford is the size difference and the power. Although Biblical was the ultimate boxer, he could still keep himself with the mere power and power,” Daniel Jacobs said Fight Hub TVTalk about the last opponent who lost Canelo Alvarez in 2022 against Dmitri Biblical.

Jacobs forgets to mention the age of Biblical compared to Crawford. Biblical was 31 when Canelo lost to him in 2022. In contrast, Crawford will become 38 in September, significantly older, smaller and in his career were less active than was biblical when he fought against Canelo three years ago.

Jacobs makes a strange comparison by calling Bivol with Crawford, as it is completely different in terms of age, size, strength and activity. It is a useless comparison.

“With Crawford, it would be a challenge for Canelo to get his skill, but it would not be a challenge for him to endure the pain. The mindset is (for Canelo), ‘If you can’t hurt me, I’m going to keep going forward. ‘

I don’t see it so challenging for Canelo at all. What will be difficult is for the Mexican star to catch up, because he is going to be on his bike as if he were in a fight against Israel Madrimov.

Crawford’s defensive strategy

He will circle the ring, try to win rounds with his stitch, throw single shots and tie Canelo as he tries to get close. That’s what we saw from Crawford against Madrimov in August. It looked Shakur-Esque, but held with a lot. Bud cannot stand and fight against Canelo because the difference in power is too significant.

He will initially try to fight against Alvarez, but as soon as he is beaten, he will start moving a lot. Turki Alalshikh is likely to regret that Crawford is used as an opponent for Canelo, as he will not get involved enough to make it an entertaining match for the fans watching Netflix.

Many casual fans will turn off the battle and start watching films on that platform. It was a bad idea for Turki to use Crawford rather than one of the younger, larger, more entertaining fighters, such as David Benavidez, David Morrell or Osleys Iglesias.

Canelo’s mindset against Crawford

“So if Canelo can adapt to the mindset and take the shots because he is going to throw. If you look at the statistics that land the bumps will lead Crawford. I will lean more to Crawford because of his skill,” Jacobs said.

Crawford is weaker, slower, smaller, older and less mobile than the last opponent of Canelo, former IBF super -middleweight champion William Scull. Crawford looked significantly weaker and slower than Scull in his last battle against Israil Madrimov 11 months ago in August 2024.

The Omaha, Nebraska native Terence, will be a year older if he faces Canelo, and he will not be more powerful or faster than he showed in what many people were a loss for Madrimov. If you look at the combined things Bud has against him, you can’t choose him to win because it’s not the 147 -pound section. He also got older.

Impact from time off

What Crawford was in 2023 when he beat the car accident with Errol Spence, that person no longer exists. He is aged, and he did not help himself by taking the year -long breaks and going out of an extensive victory. He seems to be five years old since his best win against the Faded Spence.

It is foolish what Crawford did by taking so much time, but it gives you a look at his work ethic and how he enjoys enjoying in the glow of his victories. But he gets so caught up in it, he doesn’t want to go to work again.
