Jordan argued the reality behind a proposed Joshua vs Fury fight is very different from the public statements being made before elaborating on why he believes the event is already operating outside the normal promotional structure.
“With all due respect, the reasons why there’s enough money to do it, first of all, as we both know, as we’ve discussed repeatedly, both Tyson and Joshua have slightly different deals with their promoters than other fighters do because they’re not part of the stable of broadcast commitments,” Simon told talkSport Boxing.
“So when Tyson Fury enters into a deal, he doesn’t necessarily have to perform at the broadcaster that Frank Warren is signed to, or that Eddie Hearn is signed to.
“Where is this fight taking place? Netflix, right?
“So with all due respect, and I don’t mean this disrespectfully to Frank or Eddie, neither of them promote it.
“It’s a deal that was made with Netflix, ultimately with some Turki Alalshikh money, and that’s why Dana is putting his two cents in the ring.
“But Eddie promotes AJ, and Frank promotes Tyson, so they have to be involved.”
Jordan then suggested White’s association with Turki Alalshikh is the reason the UFC boss continues to discuss the fight publicly.
“Dana’s daddy is going to promote it, which is Turki Alalshikh,” said Simon.
Both Joshua and Fury are expected to return to the ring ahead of a planned showdown later this year, with Joshua scheduled to fight on July 25 and Fury also booking a return bout.
