Curmel Moton stops Wilfredo Flores in two

Moton took control from the opening bell. He stepped forward behind a solid jab, digging hooks to the body and stringing punches together in compact bursts that forced Flores to reset repeatedly. Flores tried to answer when space appeared, but he was stepped off and gradually pushed to the ropes as Moton kept stepping into reach.

In the second round, Moton closed the distance even more. He crowded Flores, worked underneath and followed up with sharp shots. Flores found himself backed into the corner as the blows continued, struggling to create space to respond with anything sustained.

When Flores closed in on a string of clean shots and stopped firing back, the referee stepped in to stop the action late in the round. He was forced because Flores didn’t throw anything back.

After the second, Flores remained on his chair as his corner spoke to the referee. He didn’t come out for round three, and the official result was a second round TKO.

The contest represented Moton’s promotional debut under Manny Pacquiao after a brief layoff and a clear step up in scheduled rounds. Throughout the two completed rounds, he consistently looked physically strong and in command.

For a 19-year-old prospect facing a more experienced opponent in his first scheduled 10-rounder, it was a convincing performance that solidifies his position among the sport’s rising young talents and suggests he is ready for a gradual increase in opposition this year.
