Chennai Super Kings (CSK) physio Tommy Simsek rubbished reports of MS Dhoni’s tantrum after the IPL 2024 loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Former India and CSK player Harbhajan Singh recently said that MS Dhoni punched the screen in frustration after losing to RCB.
MS Dhoni is known for his calm demeanor and clarity of vision both on and off the field. The wicketkeeper-batsman has led CSK to five titles in the tournament (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023).
He is the most successful captain in IPL history, tied with Rohit Sharma for five titles as captain.
MS Dhoni Punches Screen Outside Dressing Room – Harbhajan Singh
In a recent interaction, Harbhajan Singh recounted the emotional moments after Chennai Super Kings lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2024 playoffs. Commenting in Bangalore, he said MS Dhoni lost his cool on his way to the dressing room and punched the screen.
“RCB were celebrating and they deserved to celebrate because they won. I was there watching the whole scene from above,” Harbhajan Singh was quoted as saying by Times of India.
“CSK lined up to shake hands. RCB was a little late getting there. By then RCB had finished their celebration, (Dhoni) walked in. Dressing room se pehle jo ekran hai, uspe mukka bhi maara (he punched the screen) Undressing outside his room).
CSK needed 201 runs to book a place in the IPL playoffs. MS Dhoni was at the crease when the team needed 17 runs in the final to qualify.
He started the game by hitting a big six off the first ball. However, he was dismissed by Yash Dayal on the next delivery and CSK trailed by nine runs.
After the match, a dejected Dhoni joined his CSK teammates for the traditional handshake, but the RCB players were still celebrating.
RCB, who qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs after six straight wins, left the field without shaking hands with their cricketers.
This Is Absolute Garbage – Tommy Lightning
After Harbhajan Singh’s comments gained attention, Tommy Simsek took to Instagram to respond to clarify the situation.
Shimsek denied the rumors and called them “absolute rubbish”. The CSK Physio added that he had never seen MS Dhoni aggressive after any match.
“This is absolute garbage! MSD didn’t break anything and I didn’t see him being aggressive after any match. Fake news!”, – wrote Simsek.

The CSK legend handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwa before the start of IPL 2024.
The 43-year-old scored 161 runs at a strike rate of 220.55 with 14 fours and 13 sixes. The CSK team can retain Dhoni as a loose player as he has not played international cricket for the last five years.
