Crystal Palace have had an awful start to the 2024/25 season under Oliver Glasner, and now the board have made a final decision on their £60m ace Eberechi Eze ahead of the January transfer window.

It was only last weekend that the Eagles were able to win their first Premier League game of the campaign, a surprise 1-0 victory over Ange Postecoglou’s high-flying Tottenham Hotspur side.

Up to that point, the south Londoners had drawn three and lost five of their opening eight games.

The three points against the Lilywhites only offer Glasner and his squad a temporary reprieve as they are still well below 17th place and just two points above relegation.

That course of form has been seen one expert says he should replace Glasner in the dugout, and while it’s unclear whether Steve Parish will wield the ax anytime soon, it’s clear the club needs to start moving in the right direction.

That won’t do any good if Liverpool are doing well in their pursuit of a Palace playerand if Palau were willing to sell Jean-Philippe Mateta, they could be starved of goals and the brilliant play of the center forward that Mateta brings to games.

The Frenchman has already scored three goals in nine Premier League games this season, for transfer marketand his 16 in 35 in 2023/24 demonstrates the importance he has for the current Palau.

This also applies to Eze, who give me sport sources suggest Palace are unwilling to sell in January.

Having already lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in the summer, and with Newcastle constantly sniffing around Marc Guehi, losing Eze on top of that will surely be a step too far for Palace fans.

If the team doesn’t start to improve, however, they may have no choice but to cash in, in order to bring in bodies to prevent them from dropping down to the Championship.
