Per Frank Bay: Eimantas Stanionis is fearless and does not buy the hype work Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. And why should he? If he was Eimantas Sandavol of Jalisco, Mexico, instead of Lithuania Stanionis, this fight against the legendary evening of Julio Cesar Chavez can compete against Meldrick Taylor in terms of hype and commercial buzz. But Stanionis is a little familiar, inactive Eastern European with no significant victories on his resume that received an email belt.
Ennis also donated its belt and currently stands as a manufactured former showtime/PBC hype work without any significant names on his resume in 30-plus fights. Ennis’s claim to fame is to become Errol Spence’s #1-outliner at some point and Terence Crawford, who deteriorated when Crawford deprived himself of his title, rather than facing him.
It can be argued whether Crawford has called up or not. The truth is that no one of Ennis’s hype is based on ring. His most striking victory is perhaps Roiman Villa. Villa is known for beating the former contender for the hype track, Rashidi Ellis. All the hype of Ennis is based on the narrative that other fighters used him. None of them is in fact based and is only the speculation of his minimal fan. One thing that Ennis is for him is that he is a Philly fighter. Being a Philly fighter has a certain attraction among box fans. Factual or imaginary, it is a salable story.
While it must be an important goat event, it is unfortunately not. Stanionis is a virtual unknown Eastern European, and Jaron Ennis has the personality and charisma of a mop. No minor for Ennis; All he wants to do is focus on boxing. It’s a good thing, but selling yourself, especially in boxing, is an essential ingredient. Look no further than Ryan Garcia if you want to know why it matters.
I can hear the rebuttal now, but what about Crawford? Somehow, Bud is less enjoyable than Ennis, and he is a boxer, relatively speaking. My reaction to it is: Is he really? Crawford has the personality and charisma of a bread cake. And that’s why it took him 15 years to even get a little name in box.
Before beating Spence, Crawford could play football just as well. Or what about Canelo Alvarez? He is not exactly Mr. Not charisma, and he barely speaks English. And for that, I say, Alvarez has a whole country behind him in the same way that Pacquiao and Hatton had. The reality is that America is struggling to find and build its next golden boy or ‘money’ Mayweather, because they no longer support boxing as in the previous periods.
Boxing is behind darts on television. Therefore, boxers must realize this and go above and over with self -marketing. Rent an acting coach or an audition for dance with the stars like fighters in the past. Or better yet, friends with Jake Paul becomes smart enough to do. But you have to start tending.
Winners and losers
In terms of talent, based on the eye test, Ennis and Stanionis are the top of their class. It may not say much, because the once glossy section of Leonard’s, De la Hoya’s, Mayweather’s and Trinidad’s, now welterweight, has Mario Barrios as the biggest name. Barrios is only known for being knocked out by the lightweight tank Davis and then pulled up to earn ‘Ne -mail 147 belt. As it currently stands, 147 is an barren landscape. To govern it, we get this unification of e -post champions.
Ennis allegedly rejected a massive check from Turki Ali to stand against Vergil Ortiz because he said when he signed with Eddie Hearn that his goal was to become the undisputed 147 champion. It can be either a smart play by Ennis or a massive error -determined error.
If Ennis beat Stanionis, he becomes the 147 linear ring champion. This is a historical achievement. Not sure how much credit he will get from critics and fans, because Stanionis is largely unproven. Ennis feels naive that the beat of Stanionis will automatically make him a P4P fighter.
I find it a little misleading on Ennis’s side. He seems to believe that our fans do not really know boxing and see that they are both e -post champions. Then Devin Haney is still on the P4P ranking of critics, so it may not be that much of a piece.
Now for the big, but if Ennis takes a loss, it is perhaps the worst decision that has made a boxer since Demetrius Andrade’s entire career of accidents. I would have a lot of doubt that Ennis could fall back from a loss of Stanionis. A loss would just sement the beat people had on him.
This would confirm that he was a hype work. Crawford will be omitted from the hook and can show and say, ‘This is the man you said I have a bend’. The onslaught on social media is at the next level. He could end up like Nacema after being exposed. To never be seen again. Although it is drastic, what happens when a fighter and his fans buy the hype and nominate themselves the Boogeyman.
Claims to be the most avoided fighter of Boxing. That’s how Ennis built his name. Therefore, a loss would be a killing. Ennis does not look like the type that is willing to go back to the drawing board and to fight for peanuts. He would also still be too good for the other names to give him the opportunity if they don’t have to.
This is the problem with the failed attempt with a Norman JR fight that is so publicly vocal. Now, a loss by one of the people and the other can show and say, he was never all like that anyway. Mayweather was able to use this tactic during his career.
Every time a fighter is mentioned as a threat to him, he took a loss. He would show and say, “Ah, this is the man you said can beat me that he just lost and so that allowed him to avoid such fighters during his career
No, Ennis must win and win in an impressive way for him to raise his profile and silence the critics. Anything less than a spectacular victory will have nothing. The doubters will have their cake. Stanionis is very good, but he is not supposed to win this battle. He is the only top fighter who jumped at the opportunity to face the self -proclaimed Boogeyman.
Stanionis said in an interview that he had the fight against the advice of his handlers. His team did not feel that he was getting a fair deal. They told him the money was not ready for a big unification like this. Stanionis told his team to make it happen anyway.
He will fight all the chance against him on the night. He will be the road team fighting on Ennis’s lawn. He will not have his wife by his side and will miss the birth of his first child. Stanionis is the underdog.
To run or not to run
Style, it’s a classic game. Ennis transfers between boxer and boxer puncher. He has power in both hands, and his chin is decent, but not big. We see the talent, but we haven’t seen him tested yet. What I do not like about Ennis are the excuses he has in abundance for his lack of fighting. His excuse to look on average against Karen was a very questionable statement that he was not properly motivated.
For my life, someone should have warned him that such a thing was saying. To be paid millions of dollars before your hometown for a title, and your answer is a lack of motivation. The right answer would have been that I had to do a lot of work. But the honest answer must have been that I was a little overestimated. There can be no such excuse against Stanionis. Stanionis will be there to bring it. He is your classic boxer.
Stanionis literally wants to break down his opponents. He didn’t look at the box or around the ring that protruded and looked cute. He is no frill. He has decent to good power. It seems that his chin is above average, but the truth said, we cannot say for sure, because his opposition was very mediocre. Stanionis is there to be hit, but that’s because he doesn’t care. He wants to put pressure on his opponent every minute of each round. He works the head and body and promises to kill the torso of Ennis all night.
Ennis will have the benefits of size, speed and athletics. Power must be void because both can injure each other. It should make it a close relationship early. Ennis’s simple path to victory is to be the mover. He will constantly want to move Stanionis, which makes him pick up as he tries to pick up on body shots.
Ennis will have to be careful that he is the mover and not the runner. This will negatively affect the judges and viewers. Ennis knows that at least he has to sit in Spurts and fight to win the crowd.
This should not be the case if things are fair, but it is not so and Stanionis will probably need a knockout to achieve victory. I’m not saying that he can’t win a decision, but when it’s near, he shouldn’t expect them to fight him. If it is a very close struggle, Ennis will decide the hometown.
Welterweight festival or famine
It must be a bigger battle honestly than it is at present, but it is the fault of Boxing. Both men do not talk much and have had long pieces of inactivity. What we can expect is a good to great struggle. This struggle will answer many questions for fans and critics. Is Ennis as good as advertised?
If Stanionis were to pull out the dismay, could he possibly become a star? If Ennis is upset, do we question the validity of glossy records and still believe in the fairy tales of Boogeymen in boxing? Will Eastern Europeans get a good shake in the United States?
If Ennis achieves a spectacular victory, it then makes him a superstar, and does he get the big names next? The only answer I can come up with now is that I have the feeling that we will see something unexpected. It has produced a classic. I root for the underdog because I tend to root the underdog, and I don’t believe in Boogeymen. Still, I must say that American box needs this victory in the worst way.
