Cricket Australia (CA) has imposed another ban on former Sri Lankan Test player Dulip Samaraweera. The board ruled on allegations of inappropriate behavior by Samaraweera against a second player during coaching.
In September this year, Cricket Australia banned Samaraweera for 20 years after he was found guilty of indecent behavior towards a female player. The lengthy ban banned him from holding any position on the board, state associations, BBL or WBBL clubs.
Dulip Samaraweera committed a serious foul
He reportedly seriously breached Cricket Australia’s Code of Conduct during his time as an employee of Cricket Victoria. Samaraweera has plied his trade as an assistant coach with Victoria women’s and Melbourne Stars WBBL teams. Earlier this year, he was appointed coach of the Victorian women’s team.
However, he resigned after only two weeks after being denied the appointment he wanted to make to his staff. Even after the first ban, Samaraweera is accused of another illegality.

Samaraweera denied the allegations
The most recent issue relates to when he was employed by Cricket Victoria as a personal trainer. The former Sri Lankan cricketer denied the allegations but refused to participate in the investigation. As a result, Cricket Australia handed him another lengthy ban of 10 years.
He will serve the ban concurrently with his original 20-year ban. This means he will not be able to hold any coaching position with Australia or any national team until 2044. Samaraweera played 7 Tests and 5 ODIs for Sri Lanka between 1993 and 1995. He scored 211 Test runs and 91 ODI runs.
