Terence Crawford smiles like the Cheshire Cat Last Saturday night, he asked if he was planning to fight twice the undisputed Super Middleweight Champion Canelo Alvarez before retiring. That smile on Crawford’s face said everything. He hopes Turki Alalshikh will give him two fights against the Mexican star rather than just one on September 12 in Las Vegas.
Crawford did not beat anyone to fight with Canelo. This is the problem. He does not want to rise to 168 to test himself against David Morrell or David Banavidez to show that he is worthy of the massive windfall he will receive. He is fighting for what he has done in other weight classes in the past, against fighters such as Jeff Horn, Kell Brook, Amir Khan and Julius Indongo.
I wish for once that Turki would turn around and tell Crawford that he wanted him to walk through the fire to get the Canelo money by fighting Benavidez and Morrell in back-to-back fighting. If he refuses, then proceed to more deserving fighters who want to work for the Canelo fight.
$ 100 million smile
Crawford’s take for the fight of Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 food) is estimated at about $ 100 million. So, if he fights him twice, he will retire $ 220 million. Celebrity Net Worth Treasure Crawford’s current fortune at $ 20 million, many of it from his last two fights against Israel Madrimov and Errol Spence.
He would be worth much more if he stays active and fights three times a year instead of annually. If Terence did, the chances of losing repeatedly would be great because he was not the same fighter as he once had since moved up to 154.
Crawford probably lost his last fight against Israel Madrimov, but the judges gave him the decision. Even Canelo thought Crawford lost and said he was ‘lost or a draw’ against Madrimov. So, if Bud remained active, he would be expected to fight murderers such as Janibek Alimkhnuly, Bakhram Murtazaliev, Jaron Ennis and David Benavidez.
You can see why Crawford chose to sit at his back waiting for the Golden Parachute pension pay day to fall through the gravity forces in his Jap without lifting a finger. It is a kind of pathetic way to get the Canelo battle, especially if harder working fighters like David Banavidez are ignored in favor of Crawford.
‘Canelo is’ the face of box’. He is the best fighter for Terence Crawford out there. Fight Hub TV, Talk about his fight against Canelo Alvarez for September 12 in Las Vegas.
Crawford’s new habit of talking in the third person is what some fans see as a sign that he has become a narcissist, and his victories over soft opposition have gone on his head. He looks like a classic example of a boxer who believes they can walk on the water after being fed too many tomato channels. They begin to think that they are almighty and can do everything.
Does Crawford think he can beat Canelo? I don’t think he does. If he did, he would have moved up to 168 during the year and adopted the top contenders, Diego Pacheco, Christian Mbilli and Osleys Iglesias, to show that he could defeat Alvarez.
The $ 200 million goal?
“On September 12, we will see if the weight makes a difference or not. One fight at a time,” Crawford said when asked if he was planning to fight Canelo twice.
“No, I don’t. I just think William (Scull) has done a good job of neutralizing Canelo’s power punch. He just moved a lot. I don’t know, because if you knocked on the styles that beat him (Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Dmitri Biblical), they didn’t move much. They moved a bit, but not as much as William Scull.
‘Top, baby. Come on, ‘said Crawford when asked where a win over Canelo puts him under the big ones. “Be myself, that’s it,” Crawford said of what it would take for him to defeat Alvarez.
