Terence Crawford claims to “do a few Henry Armstrong things” by moving two divisions to defeat Canelo Alvarez for his titles in September.
“Henry Armstrong?”
Crawford, who compared himself to the big former world champion of three divisions, Henry Armstrong (149-21-10, 99 COs), comes as misleading and 100% ignorant About the type of fighter that was talent. The more Bud speaks, the more I realize that he knows nothing about the history of the sport.
If Crawford had the kind of driving force to perform what Armstrong had in his career from 14 years from 1931 to 1945, he might be wonderful. I doubt it. Crawford would have lost too many fighters if he was as busy as Armstrong and the murderers fought in the weight classes he fought with. Armstrong strived to fight the best and stay busy with his career. He did not take a year off after every victory like Crawford does.
Omaha’s native, Nebraska, has always taken the easy path, especially for his two undisputed championship victories. He didn’t fight all the champions. He collected his belts by fighting champions who have already collected the titles.
The outdated one-time fighter craft Crawford (41-0, 31 food) adds that a win over Canelo (62-2-2, 39 COs) places him for all time #3 pounds-by-pounds.
Ego -trip?
“I think Canelo is there too with the Greats Time Bigs, and I already consider myself a wonderful time,” Crawford said Manouk AkopyanAnd argue that he would deserve to be in the upper no. 3 pound-for-pounds of all time. ‘To essentially move three weight classes to defeat a soon -to -be unwilling at 168 without walking in the weight class it is like some Henry Armstrong stuff. “
Crawford’s resume is too paper thin for him to be seen as a big pound-by-pound. If you are only a significant win, is a zero & void Errol Spence, which says you are not worthy to be on any kind of pound-by-pound list. Crawford is not in the top 100 on one of the lists.
To beat Canelo, Crawford would not place on the same level as Henry Armstrong and certainly not the best pound-by-pound all the time. People saw that Alvarez could be beaten by competent fighters with his losses to Dmitri Biblical and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
You can add Gennadiy Golovkin and Erislandy Lara to the list of fighters who also defeated Canelo because these guys were probably robbed when they fought against the Mexican star. In GGG’s case, he clearly beat Canelo in their first fight and fought well enough to earn a draw in their second collision in 2018.
Canelo is just another example of a fighter who has chosen his career throughout his career and has a whole lot of more losses on his resume if you make the controversial decisions.
Bud Crawford would be better to keep his yap closed and hope it doesn’t go too badly against Canelo for his golden parachute driving.
