Dmitri Bivol gives Terence Crawford a good chance to jump the weight of 14 pounds from 154 to 168 to defeat Canelo Alvarez on September 13 for his undisputed super-middleweight championship.
BIVOL BACKS CRAWFORD
The United Three Belt Light Heavyweight Champion Bivol defeated Canelo in 2022 by a close unanimous decision of 12 round. Crawford coach Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre, revealed that they were BiVol’s hit-and-not-get-got-hit-style as a blueprint of how they approach the Canelo Superfight.
Biblical says he saw how big Crawford was between fights, and it helped to make his opinion disappear that he could beat Canelo. However, he admits to getting used to his power. It will be difficult to do, because Crawford has chosen to remain inactive for a year, rather than staying busy. Turki Alalshikh, the financier of the event, should have insisted that Terence fight at 168 at least twice during the year. It was a missed opportunity.
The “Fight of the Century”
Earlier today, Turki announced that what he calls “The struggle of the century” Between Alvarez and Crawford will be flocked to Netflix worldwide. This can mean a greater achievement if the subscribers are interested in this struggle. Many will not.
Crawford is not as well known as Mike Tyson in terms of name recognition among people who do not follow boxing. He is invisible to people who are not interested in the sport. They know Canelo, but not Crawford. To go the Netflix route for a fight that would appeal to subscribers, such as Canelo against David Banavidez, would make sense. But not with Crawford. It’s a big mist.

Biblical is not precisely biased here. He already admits that Crawford ‘is one of my favorite boxers’, and he admires his defense style. This is one that uses Bisvol. These are birds of a feather, so it is not a PPV attraction.
All the running that Crawford and Biblical does in their fights does not echo with American fans who want action. They want to be entertained, and BiVol and Crawford do not. They are runners.
Adaptation to power of 168 pounds
“He can win this battle. But there are many small things we do not know how he will go with it. He must get used to the power and pressure of 168, because it is a big difference, ‘says Bivolol.
How’s Crawford going “Get used to the power” If he is chosen not to fight in the 168 pound division until he faces Canelo on September 13? The sparring with headgear against fewer fighters brought into training camp will not help to get Crawford accustomed to power.
He will have head covering, and his sparrative partners will be nowhere near the level of Canelo. If so, they wouldn’t work as sparring partners, right? Granted, the Mexican star is washed 100% at this late stage of his 19-year professional career. But he is still powerful and better than any of the boxers who bring Crawford into the camp to help him practice for the fight.

It will be difficult for Terence Crawford to get used to Super Middle Wight ‘when he is taken into account that he has been chosen to take no warm -up fights to accommodate himself to the weight class of 168 pounds before fighting against Canelo on September 13.
Crawford’s “Golden Parachute”
Crawford had a whole year to take two to three votes after his last match on August 3, 2024 against Israil Madrimov. Crawford chose not to. He just wanted to wait for the Canelo match, which indicates that it is mainly about money for Crawford.
In other words, it’s his Golden Parachute payday to give him a soft landing in retirement. It is pathetic and anti-sport. You don’t like to see these kinds of things in any sport. Crawford has to put his skin at stake to earn the Canelo battle like other people, but he doesn’t have to. It is given to him like a gold watch to a person who retires from a company.
