Terence Crawford still denies that the only goal of him will go to Canelo Alvarez until 168 to get a big undeserved payday on September 13. He says he goes with two weight classes for his ‘legacy fight’ from 154, which sounds like Gibberish.
Legacy Doubletalk
It is just a one -time for Crawford and has nothing to do with legacy. He goes for one fight against Canelo at 168 and then returns to 154 or steps out. In this case, “Legacy ”is just code For “I’m going on to get the payday.”
If Crawford (41-0, 31 COs) was serious about his legacy, he would go up 168 by beating the top contenders to get to the Canelo battle. He would not skip the line as he is now by jumping straight into a world title fight against Alvarez. It is so unfair. It may not be allowed to happen if boxing is regulated.
Crawford is allowed to take a shortcut to the top to build a pseudo-legacy, and it is not genuine. In other sports, you must earn away to the big game. You don’t hit straight to the final or the Super Bowl without having a season. What Crawford did on 154, 147, 140 and 135 did not give him the right to challenge Canelo for his three super -middle weight titles.
Unoccupied at 168
No one would have a problem with Crawford standing up and fighting for a world title if he went through the running of the top contenders. If he were to get up and hit the number 1 man, it would show that he deserves the fight and not just money hungry. Turki Alalshikh would have told Crawford to beat two or three top guys at 168 to get the Canelo match.
The problem with this is that Crawford would lose for all the top contenders. He would not beat Osleys Iglesias, Christian Mbilli or Diego Pacheco. Those fighters would strike crips from Crawford and leave him in broken pieces on the canvas.
“What will they be able to say if I go up two weight classes? If Canelo became undisputed again (by defeating IBF champion William Scull on May 3), and I beat Canelo, could they say? They would find something, but what can they really say? ‘said Terence Crawford said Cigar talk About the will of his critics by moving two divisions to defeat Canelo Alvarez on 168 and taking his four titles.
“This is the legacy struggle there for me. Many people say, ‘He is money hungry. He looks at money. He tries to pay out. “I got money for years, and I’m not stupid with my money, as you can see. I don’t buy Ferraris or Lamborghini, walk around with 100 people around me and get all this jewelry, ”says Crawford.
