Hamzah Sheeraz wants to fight Terence Crawford for his undisputed titles or for any of the belts if he prefers to vacate one or more.
Will Crawford vacate again?
He expects Crawford to give up his titles. If not, Sheeraz (22-0-1, 18 COs) the WBC is compulsory and #2 is arranged. The #1 IBF mandatory is Osleys Iglesias. Crawford will soon have to make a big decision if he wants to retain his titles because he faces two tough compulsory challengers.
Terence (42-0, 31 Kos) won the undisputed super-middleweight championship of Canelo Alvarez last month on September 13 in Las Vegas. He didn’t say anything about the will of the titles.
Crawford’s possible reasons not to evacuate the belts right away:
- Canelo Alvarez Rematch Lure
- Defend them
- Marketability
- Not yet forced to defend
The risk of defending at 38
Once the IBF or WBC Crawford ordered to defend its belts against Osleys or Sheeraz, we could see that he was starting to vacate. It is not a good fight for a 38-year-old man who does not have the size and power to defend the belts against such contenders. Those guys are not old and were washed like Canelo.
“I assume Crawford is going to evacuate. And if the belts become vacant, I will fight against someone for their belts to become a world champion. That would be an ideal situation, “Hamzah Sheeraz said Ring magazine.
Hold belts for status
Crawford will not evacuate until his feet are set on fire by one of the sanctions bodies. As with his WBA title of 154 pounds he recently evacuated, Crawford will hold on to the belts for as long as possible superficial status purposes. It is like trophies of war, but without much meaning, given how Shot Canelo is at this point in his career. But if he is commanded to defend them, you will see that he gives them up. Iglesias and Sheera are too big and powerful for Terence to fight them without a great likelihood of losing in the worst way.
“And if he does not evacuate, I might have the opportunity to fight against him or earn the opportunity to fight against him, because I am mandatory for the WBC. I think I also have a good position with the WBO, “Sheeraz said of his interest in challenging Terence Crawford on 168.
