Crawford Eyes 2025 Return, Vows To “Show The World”

Terence Crawford posted a short message on social media today saying he would “Show the World” how big is he in 2025.

The fight Crawford wants against unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez still doesn’t look promising. His Excellency Turki Alalshikh revealed this week that Crawford, 37, is out with an injury and will not be free to fight until “to May.” Turki says he wants to start negotiations with Canelo to make a fight for 2025.

Canelo will already have fought in May 2025 when Crawford returns from his injury, meaning his only chance to fight him is in September. Ideally, Terence should fight one of the champions at 154 or 160 to show that he’s not just looking for a cash out against Alvarez.

Missing “Bud”?

Crawford probably took note of the publicity of his last opponent, Israel Madrimovreceived this week. He is scheduled for two Riyadh season events within 63 days of each other, with Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) feeling left out. It must be annoying for Crawford to see the star treatment Madrimov receives from Turki and the fans.

Poor Crawford misses the action and sees ‘Little GGG’ take the spotlight. He could end up as the star of the December 21 and February 22 events.

Madrimov is being treated like the winner of his fight with Crawford, who is scheduled to face Serhii Bohachuk on December 21 on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 in Riyadh, and then against WBC interim 154-lb champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. the Mammoth February 22 event.

If Crawford wasn’t on his usual once-a-year schedule, he could be involved in December and/or February on one or both of these Riyadh season cards.

Of course, if he did, he would be expected to fight someone with talent, such as IBF junior middleweight champion Bakhram Murtazaliev or IBF and WBO 160-lb champion Janibek Alimkhanuly. Sebastian Fundora is reportedly in negotiations with Errol Spence, so he won’t be an option for Crawford.

Bud’s 2025 Vow

Crawford’s trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, said that they will use the Floyd Mayweather Jr. blueprint against Canelo. He says Crawford would move on him and try not to get hit.

That doesn’t sound appealing from a fan perspective, as they would buy the event on PPV, believing it would be an entertaining fight. What they would get is a repeat of how Mayweather fought him ten years ago on September 14, 2013 and it was a dull fight.

“Get their legs in shape because he’s going to have to use some side-to-side movement against Canelo,” said Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, letting the media know that his fighter, Crawford, would run against Canelo if they get fight
