Terence Crawford coach Bernie ‘The Boxer’ Davis denies using 135-pound Shakur Stevenson to prepare for Bud’s title fight against the undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.
Fans question Crawford’s strategy
Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) struggles Canelo in which Turki Alalshikh on September 13 “The Fight of the Century” at Netflix at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Terence has no experience at 168 or 160, and is not arranged in the Super Middeeight Division. Turki likes the idea that Crawford is fighting. So, he made it happen.
Bernie mentions that Shakur ‘is part of the hangout’ in the training of Crawford’s training camp, and he wants to save with ‘everyone’. Fans on social media were critical after Shakur boasted at X on August 19 that he had haunted Crawford and said: “Good rounds today with the @terenceCrawford.”
Fans argue that Crawford should not waste valuable training camp time with Shakur, as he was already in a difficult place and jumped two weight classes for his title shot against Canelo. Former four divisions world champion Crawford has not fought in twelve months since August 3, 2024, and he will become 38 on September 28.
No sparring with shakur

What sentence does it make? ‘ says Davis. “You do know that we got the coach of the year, right?” Bernie said and talked about Crawford coach Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre. “Do you think the coach of the year will use a 135 pound to help us get ready for Canelo, your stupid (people)?”
Canelo’s openness to Crawford’s
Bernie chose not to reveal who Crawford’s sparring partners are for this camp. It would have helped if he were transparent. For his side, Canelo allowed pictures of him to pose with his Spartners, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Yoenli Hernandez.
“Canelo is just as troublesome as hell with a wonderful IQ. Who are you going to get ready for him, talent? You are not,” Davis said.
