Terence Crawford says he will have achieved more than Sugar Ray Robinson if he moves up three weight classes to defeat the undisputed super -middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez on September 13. Crawford mentions that a win over Canelo, 35, should set him as the number 1 ‘biggest fighter ever’.

Crawford claims all grandeur
Crawford (41-0, 31 food) is not seen as big, because he has never hit one elite fighter during his 17-year-old pro career, and in his last battle, he got a decision against Israil Madrimov.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I?” says Terence Crawford to the Ring champs YouTube channel when asked if he would set himself as the ‘biggest fighter ever’ if he defeated Canelo Alvarez on September 13. “If you talk about all these other fighters, which would have done or achieved something nearby.
If Crawford beats Canelo, he would still be nowhere near the ‘biggest fighter ever’ because his poor resume does not register. He is fighting an over-the-hill Canelo, which is not the best fighter at 168. We don’t know who is the best fighter in the Super Middleweight section, because Alvarez has chosen to avoid the best guys.
David Banavidez and David Morrell finally stopped waiting for a fight against him and moved up to 175. The top guys left would have an excellent shot to defeat the Mexican star. Benavidez and Morrell would both like to return after 168 if Canelo agreed to fight against them. They both beat him, and they would do the same to Crawford.
Fighters Canelo has defeated to collect the 168 pound belts
– Callum Smith: WBA and WBC
– Billy Joe Saunders: WBO
– Caleb Plant: IBF
– William Scull: Repeat the IBF title
“If you say that Sugar Ray Robinson. He never went up three weight classes and fought the undisputed champion, ‘says Crawford, making himself better than Sugar Ray. “A first ballot from famer, and one of the best Mexican fighters to get out of Mexico,” Crawford said of 35-year-old Canelo.
What Crawford does not say is that he would lose against fighters at 160 and 168 if he had to defeat the best talents in those weight classes before challenging Canelo for his undisputed super -middleweight championship. Terence gets an undeserved title shot he didn’t earn against Alvarez. If he had to beat fighters on 160, like Janibek Alimkhanuly, or at 168, like Caleb plant, he would lose.
Prime Sugar Ray vs. Shopworn Canelo
If Sugar Ray Robinson had received the preferred treatment given by Crawford, he would have moved three divisions to capture world titles, especially if the champion was rinsed. Put in a Prime Sugar Ray with a larger 35-year-old fighter who was over the hill, he would have won. Crawford is in the perfect situation and is fighting a store in Canelo, which looked bad in his last three fights against William Scull, Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia.
“It’s a difference when you talk about the ramp of weight and who you fight with. You can say that I went up three weight classes, ‘Terence says, talking about what he would have achieved if he went up from 154 to 168. Crawford is depicting himself as a 147-pound warrior, not a 154-pound, despite the fact that he characterized the WBA title in the middle of the middle.
Canelo’s recent performance -decline
The 35-year-old Canelo, who is considered crop by fans, is not the same as Crawford who goes up after 168 to tackle a real killer who is in their lead. The division is empty of talent now that David Banavidez and David Morrell have taken off. But Crawford would still be over his head and fight against Christian Mbilli, Osleys Iglesias and Caleb plant. This is just a short list. He will also have trouble fighting against other super -middleweights. The youth, size and power of fighters such as Edgar Berlanga, Jaime Munguia and Hamzah Sheeraz would be for Crawford pure problems.
“That’s the joy in it. Everyone wonders how I’m going to do in 168. They don’t know. How can they say what’s going to happen to a person who’s not them, ‘Crawford said when some fans believe he can’t hurt Canelo, but the Mexican star can hurt him.
Fans have an excellent idea of how Crawford will fare at 168. They can extrapolate from how he performed to 154 and won a razor fight against Israel Madrimov. Crawford looked old, weak and fragile in that battle. Now he will be a year older and move two divisions to fight Canelo. We already know how Crawford is going to perform.
Is Crawford just fighting for payday?
“I don’t know what they’re talking about,” Crawford said when he said fans believe he is only fighting against Canelo for the payday and will retire afterwards. “I see that I have a fight against Canelo, and that’s the only thing in my mind. I think nothing but that. ‘
The reason fans believe that Crawford is fighting against Canelo just for the money:
- Crawford, who does not want to prove itself at 168
- Sit for a year inactive and wait for the Canelo fight
- Not planning to stay at 168. The fight is once for Crawford.
“No, not now. Why would I think about hanging them when I fight? I’m blessed, ‘Terence said, responding to the interviewer that he was’ big’ for his age.
Crawford, of course, rely on getting a profitable re -broadcast with Canelo if he overcomes or if the competition is nearby. Even if he does not get a re -broadcast, he can make big money in fighting on 168 or 154 against the murderers in those weight classes.
Crawford’s #1 Hope would be a re -broadcast with Canelo. If not, it would be the options of Bud to make as much money as possible before retiring:
– David benavidez
– Dmitri BIVOL
– Artur Betterbiev
– Sebastian Fundora
– Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis
– Vergil Ortiz
– Conor Benn
– Chris eubank jr.
– Tim Tszyu
Crawford would lose for most of the fighters, especially if he chose to remain inactive for a whole year before fighting again.
