Crawl jealousy in Team Crawford?
It almost sounds like Bernie is jealous of how impressive Ennis looked, which was light years better than a typical Crawford performance. He never looked like that in his career. Ennis has taken away some of the brilliance of Bud’s recent victory with Lima’s destruction.
The way Bernie was worked up, he bothered by the praise that Ennis received from the boxing world after his first knockout of Lima (14-2, 10 COs) in Philadelphia.
Ennis’s victory over Lima overshadowed Crawford’s razor victory over Canelo Alvarez on September 13. Ennis had Lima with shots and dropped him twice before closing him with a storm of power shots. That performance left fans speechless. No one does this at the top level at 154, 160 or 168.
In contrast, Bud ran around the ring for most of the night against Alvarez, trying not to be hit, and barely won a unanimous 12-round decision by the scores 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112.
Bernie: “Boots is an average boxer”

An ‘average boxer’ would not have wiped out Uisma Lima in the first round the way ‘Boots’ Ennis did last Saturday night. It requires top -level skills to do so against a knockout artist like Lima, who is better than fans think. We will see that as time passes when he starts to fight against the top contenders.
“What is he doing so skilled? Crawford is a man who can go up with someone you can see because of the way his skill is. He beats all these different guys with skills,” Bernie said.
The way Ennis looked in his last two fights against Uussa Lima and Eimantas Stanionis, he looks better than Crawford in the skills department. During Terence’s career, he never looked as impressive as “Boots” in his last two battles.
Compare how Bud in his last two fights against Canelo Alvarez and Israil Madrimov looked like the performances that Ennis moved against Lima and Stanionis. It’s like night and day. Crawford struggled in his fights with Madrimov and Canelo.
In the eyes of many fans, Madrimov beat Crawford. Israil landed the louder, cleaner shots in every round of the fight. Now, if it was “boots” that Madrimov fought, I could consider it a similar battle as his attacks against Lima and Stanionis.

It is easily the best victories of Crawford of his career. Of these names, seven of them were past their lead when Bud fought against them. He did not fight an excellent version of these guys: Canelo, Gamboa, Porter, Indongo, Spence, Brook or Khan. They were all at the end of their careers when Crawford fought them.
