Austin, Texas (September 12, 2024) – The Circuit of the Americas has completed its second and final renovation project at the world-famous 20-lap, 3.41-mile vertical road course that hosts major racing series such as Formula 1, NASCAR and MotoGP.

The project began in its inaugural phase ahead of April’s MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas and was completed before the FIA World Endurance Championship in Austin earlier this month. More than 18,076 tonnes of asphalt was used for the resurfacing, which is expected to bring many benefits to motorists and motorists.

COTA, a prestigious FIA Class I and FIM Class A track, will further enhance the racing experience of competitors with a new surface that is significantly different from the previous asphalt.

Constant review and implementation of continuous track maintenance and safety measures is prioritized to provide a world-class experience for drivers, teams and fans.

“The drivers and riders feel like it’s a completely different track. We know the update is overdue, and while some “character” is lost, the new surface makes for some amazing speeds and provides a much more comfortable experience. The new asphalt looks great too!” – COTA Chairman Bobby Epstein

The smooth surface should result in faster lap times throughout the series at COTA, especially at critical braking points like Turn 1 and at the apex of some corners like Turn 18.

Competing at COTA on September 1 was the first event where World Endurance Championship riders experienced the new surface. MotoAmerica Superbikes follows this weekend (September 13-15) and then Formula 1 arrives for the United States Grand Prix on October 18-20.
