Cooper Lutkenhaus wins the 800m world indoor titles, becoming the youngest ever to win at Toru 2026.

Viewing Cooper Lutkenhaus Winning the 800m from Torun was fascinating. What surprised me the most was the seventeen-year-old’s navigation between a tough heat, a round-robin semi-final, and then battling Elliott Crestan and Mohamed Atawi in the final, a very tough final.

Cooper Lutkenhaus is a phenom to say the least. The best thing that happened to this young man, in my opinion, was his early exit in Tokyo 2025.

I’ve been interviewed Cooper Lutkenhaus for our series, #Journey to compete. You can view it here: What this writer sawhe interviewa young athlete who is incredibly focused, has a strong team around him and is immensely talented. His journey from seventeen to Olympic champion is fraught with hardships, but Cooper Lutkenhaus reminds me of Mondo Duplantis; Cooper has been reviewing his runs well and learned that he didn’t like the Tokyo rounds.
