The IBF ordered the heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois to defend against his compulsory Derek Chisora, and gave them 30 days to May 22 to negotiate an agreement before a wallet bid occurs.
Dubois (22-2, 21 CO’s) has the option of feeding a unification fight to prevent Chisora (36-13, 23 COs) from fighting. Eventually, he will have to defend against him if he holds his IBF title. Dubois is interested in the fight against the United Three Belt Champion Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed title to avenge his ninth round knockout loss from 2023.
This is a much bigger battle for Dubois than facing 41-year-old travelman Chisora, who had an easy path to earn his IBF-sheltered status by beating Otto Wallin through a unanimous 12-round decision on February 8 in a title eliminator.
Safety issues
There are many fans who are concerned that Chisora can be severely injured by Dubois because he is too old, slow and physically weakened to win him. Fans think Chisora is only taking the fight for a final payday to contribute his wealth.
The IBF did a lot of criticism from the box public for making the Chisora-Wallin struggle a title eliminator. Chisora had a record of 3-4 in his seven previous fights that went against Wallin in the IBF title, and his recent victories were against 39-year-old Joe Joyce and 42-year-old Gerald Washington.
It was not solid enough victories for the struggle to be a title -eliminator. Joyce lost two of his three previous battles before fighting against Chisora, and he was seen as damaged goods after being knocked out twice by Zhilei Zhang.
Despite being a travel man with 13 losses, Chisora is a millionaire. The Sun reports that its net worth there is $ 12 million Of his long 18-year career.
News: IBF Wednesday ordered the heavyweight titlist Daniel Dubois to facilitate the compulsory Derek Chisora. 30 days (until May 22) to make agreement or wallet will be ordered. Until it is ordered, Dubois can still get an exception for unification with USyk staying in the works. #boxing
