Conor Benn took on social media today to call out the WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios to his controversial 12-round majority stretch against 46-year-old Manny Pacquiao last Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Benn’s lack of credentials
Conor does not have the credentials to fight for a world title. He comes with a loss of Chris Eubank Jr., and his resume at Welterweight is that of a beginner. Benn was well promoted by his promoters in Matchroom, which still has to match him against a good fighter by 147.

It would make sense to Benn to get a world title against Barrios if he had victories over contenders such as Shakhram Giyasov, Eimantas Stanionis, Devin Haney and Karen Chukhadzhian. But with Conor’s weak resume, he does not judge a world title at 147, not even against a paper champion like Mario Barrios.
It hurts the box, which makes it look like a non-sports, to have fighters like Benn title shots after beating no one to earn the fight.
Weakest 147 champion
Benn clearly saw how vulnerable Barrios (29-2, 18 COs) looked into that fight, and came out through an old Pacquiao in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It wasn’t that Pacquiao was so big. It was a case of Barrios showing how poor from a fighter he is, and why he is considered the weakest link at 147 of the champions at 147.
Pacquiao would probably have lost to most of the top -15 last night. It’s just that he had a man who didn’t have a real talent, and who has no business that holds a world title.
Fans have seen this in Barrio’s last battle when he struggled in a 12-round against travel man Abel Ramos in November.
Ramos received a title against Barrios, despite losing two of his last three fights. The match done by Barrios’ promoters is a clear sign that they are trying to hold him to the WBC title for as long as possible.
