Cold weather, cooler style: Adam Scott’s sweater game is your go-to plan for fall and winter golf

For those of you who don’t know me too well yet, just know that I’m the MyGolfSpy style guy. Don’t get it wrong, Connor is our shoe guru, but I’m much more of a traditionalist and when it comes to my style on and off the course, I’m a fanatic.

Fall has always been my favorite season because as the weather gets colder, you can put on more layers and really start to show how well (or poorly) you can dress. That’s probably why when I first started watching golf, even though Tiger was “my favorite,” I felt a kinship with ours. The hero of WITBAdam Scott. From his days with Burberry, to Aquascutum, and now to Uniqlo, Adam has almost a sweater at all times and is the undisputed go-to guy for cold weather golf.

I’m a firm believer that if you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you play good. So take it from me, this is what you need to look, feel and play your best golf this fall.

Uniqlo Milano ribbed sweater

You can ask my wife, I bring this thing with me everywhere all the time. There isn’t a trip, golf or not, like this sweater (yes, in beige Adam Scott) doesn’t leave the house and is a lifesaver. Even though it’s lightweight, this thing is ridiculously warm when it’s cold outside and looks really stylish. You can easily take this from the course to dinner, to the office, you name it. I know because I do it… often.

PUFFTECH vest

This lightweight puffer vest it’s another staple Adam or I are rarely without in the fall and winter. It fits easily in your golf bag or travel bag and adds that extra layer of warmth on particularly windy or muggy days. Not to mention, it looks great too: sporty yet timeless and functional as anything.

DRY-EX polo shirt

I will die on the hill that Uniqlo DRY-EX t-shirt is the best value in golf. I have shirts from Greyson and Peter Millar, and I always go back to Uniqlo. Like the sweater, this shirt punches so far above its weight class, it’s not even funny. For $29.90, this polo looks and performs better than three times its price. Fall weather is also unpredictable, and every time you need to put on layers, you need to take off a few layers and Uniqlo DRY-EX allows you to do this comfortably and in style.

Greyson Hybrid 1/2 Zip Mid Layer

Yes, yes, yes, I know Adam is sponsored by Uniqlo, but we are not. While Uniqlo’s quality and prices are great, sometimes you have to go the premium route and I can’t think of a better option than Greyson. Like I said, I own quite a bit of Greyson gear, and there stuff is absolutely legit and looks fantastic. I can guarantee you won’t see many people at your club or course wearing something like this. Be good to yourself and your game, go Greyson.

BLOCKTECH Parka

Again, I won’t recommend something I don’t wear or believe in. I saw Adam wearing one of these right around the time they were introduced in 2019, and I still have mine. I can’t tell you the number of October and November tours this jacket has gotten me through, not to mention flights and vacations. I absolutely love this park, and I’m sure you will too. However, I wish Uniqlo would release a hoodless one like they do for Adam…

Heathlander Golf Shoes

Adam is a FootJoy guy, but these are totally something I can see him wearing because I would. of Heathlander Golf Shoes is highly rated among the MyGolfSpy staff, and they scream fall/winter golf and less than “ideal” conditions. When you consider their heritage and name alone, it makes a lot of sense. These are designed and inspired by links courses, where the conditions are unpredictable and rough to say the least. Do yourself a favor and be like me: get some Heathlanders.

Longbow LP-2 Broom Broom

Look, the broomstick shooter is disruptive, but if you remember my last article on iti told you one of his inserts was going in my bag. I lied… Sort of. By chance, I came across Longbow, and their shooters are absolutely amazing. I added one to the bag this week and whether it’s a placebo or not is debatable, but with it removed, my distance control and feel have improved tremendously. Adam knew what he was doing when he switched to long shooter and I’m glad I finally took the plunge too. The weather is getting colder, but it’s time for your camera to heat up.
