2. The New York City Marathon set a record in 2025 with 59,226 finisherss! When I ran NYC in 1985, there were about 7,500 graduates.

3. Race through five regions started in 1976 to celebrate the bicentennial. It only had to happen once. Fred Lebow just convinced the Borrowers to keep it going, but how isn’t really clear. I think it was the best sales job in the history of the marathon.

5. 132 countries had runners New York Marathonall 50 states plus DC, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Guam were also represented. I love that so many athletes (over 18,000) come from outside the US

7. In 2025, almost perfect conditions were received for the marathoners in New York. pleasant and cool in the morning and cool most of the day.
