Manchester United are not unhappy about recent reports suggesting Kobbie Mainoo is unhappy at Old Trafford, sources have told. Caught offside.
Claims emerged last night that the 18-year-old is eyeing a £200,000-a-week contract, raising questions over his future at his boyhood club.
People close to the situation, however, played down these suggestions. It is believed that United are not open to letting the youngster go and is very much in Ruben Amorim’s plans.
Manchester United star ‘learns Spanish’ ahead of potential SHOCK exit
Mainoo has been heralded as one of the brightest prospects to emerge from United’s academy in recent years. He broke through early last year and his displays justified then-England boss Gareth Southgate’s selection at last summer’s European Championship.
Talks between the teenager and United over a new deal have dragged on since the spring. He is currently on a deal worth £20,000-a-week but is believed to be after a salary that reflects his stature in the squad, being one of the first-choice central midfielders. CaughtOffside have been unable to stomach reports that he wants to tenfold his current pay packet, but there is tentative interest from Chelsea.
Amad Diallo’s new deal with Manchester United is pending confirmation
United are expected to announce Amad Diallo’s new contract this week. Although the club have struggled to tie Mainoo down to a new contract, the winger has extended his stay at Old Trafford.
Amorim confirmed last Friday that the deal was “close” and it is now believed the club will confirm it in due course.
The 22-year-old has been one of United’s standout players this season. Despite battling with Antony for a place under Erik ten Hag, Diallo has featured in all 12 possible games for Amorim, playing either as a full-back or as an inverted No.10.
The former Atalanta man has nine goals in 13 Premier League starts this season, his best return for the Red Devils to date.
