Classic Creator needs some tweak

I am a great fan of the classic concept of the Creator.

After the first edition last August, I wrote about the success of this experiment. PGA Tour’s First meaningful investment on YouTube Golf Brought impressive vision numbers and gave golf fans a reason to see Wednesday before the good ones were played in the real tour.

The expression “growth of the game” is so excessive that it has joked. But ideas like this help golf in a very tangible way.

You can see it in TPC Sawgrass this week to get two of Expanded classic creator HOW Grant Horvat of Golf superstar on YouTube defeat no laying up up Chris Solomon and George Bryan in a play off on the famous Green Island (which is really a peninsula, but I digress).

Here are the results if you are interested. The creators played eight holes (from the tips!) With the three main players entering a play off with a hole.

Grant Horvat* +1
George Bryan IV +1
Chris Solomon +2
Stele +3
Perez +4
Kyle berkshire +6
Tisha Alyn +6
Gabbygolfgirl +6
Wesley Bryan +6
Trent Ryan +29

According to most accounts, the energy was phenomenal for reasons. Fans were filled with people about 10th in startling number. Creators were flooded with demand for autograph and five high. Fat Perez of Bob does sport Drained an epic blow. Barstool’s Trent Ryan was mercilessly rejoiced while making a 11 in par-3 17.

Vibes were immaculate.

Bearing all this, there is still room for improvement for an idea that is in its infancy.

This tournament was broadcast on Golf Channel, ESPN+ and YouTube (where you will be able to see it as well). Just six hours in the video being published, more than 500,000 people had already seen on YouTube. Add to the next audience – I personally looked at ESPN+and I’m sure this is a healthy estimate he golf liv would kill for.

So it is important that this TV/broadcaster product reflects what makes YouTube golf so special.

For now, I don’t think this is the case.

Namely, it should feel less like a traditional golf tour (and broadcast).

Here are seven changes that I hope the classic creator makes in the future.

1. More golf shots, please

Whether it is Creator Classic, match or other single golf broadcasts, a repeated problem is over-producing and complicating the product.

Less is more. Keep the simple things here.

What makes YouTube golfy great? It is shot after the goal and personalities naturally shine.

There were 10 players in the course on Wednesday evening. At one point, we went more than 30 minutes without seeing a stroke from one of the four.

Why would this happen? This transmission should be all shots. Just show golf.

A normal tournament of the tournament is swollen with adsClass Classic Creator has the advantage of only 10 balls in the limited intermittent game.

No excuse here.

2.

The broadcast collided several times when one of the three reporters on the course made a walk and conversation with one of the players.

Unnecessary.

These interviews are not additional. Journalists on the course seem to be making an impression of a typical broadcast, which is the opposite of what we want.

This includes Shane Bacon and Doug Smith as games-by-Play notifiers. We are receiving many comments oppressed by people who do not play in this event.

This should be funny and black. Treatment as a significant event where competition matters does not make sense. This is not a serious golf tour – it’s just for fun.

Discard the MICS over the players and let them hold the event. Put Robby Berger on the call. Make funny.

3. Make the most comprehensive format

The format of having some players qualify for a play off is a very good idea. Creates an automatic drama and a fun finish.

However, I think this tour crystallized how that format can work better when there are more high -level players in the field (like what we saw with the creator’s first classic). YouTube golf is usually not an individual hit game in the championship courses, so it should not always be the format.

As a way to include all skill levels while still making a fun event, I think it makes more sense to make teams.

Imagine having Ryan, who is probably a handicap 16, paired in an alternative blow to Horvat.

Take your best players and combine them with the worst players.

This would open the door for all kinds of creators to be included AND Get in the quarrel to win.

And with certain ideas for forms that include teams, I think the pace of the game – which was terrible in Sawgrass – could greatly improve.

What else would you like to see? How did you like this publication of The Creator Classic?
