The Brit set her 15th British W60 record of the year in 18:35.95 in the windy race.
Claire Elms set her 15th British W60 record of the year with a solo 18:35.95 over 5000m in breezy conditions (28 September).
The Briton, who holds world age-group records over 1500m and miles both indoors and outdoors in 2024, has incredibly not done any 5000m training in the build-up to the race.
The heel problem also meant he averaged 10 miles a week in August.
Elms started his 5,000 meters a little too fast with a 3:35 first kilometer, but then settled into a steady 89-90 second lap pace and passed the halfway mark in 9:10.
It meant Fiona Matheson’s 18:38.75 at the 2021 Scottish Masters Championships was under review.

With his heel hurting, Elms slowed down during the second half of the race, but a final 87-second lap saw Matheson’s time more than three seconds off.
Elms now holds the UK W60 marks of 800m, 1500m, mile, 3000m and 5000m and will aim for longer course records in the autumn once his heel improves.
The Kent AC athlete also recently featured in a mini-documentary on Callum Elson’s Youtube channel; Distance project – focusing on his running background and ambitions in the sport.

Another highlight of the weekend came from Mark Edwards after he smashed his British M45 shot put record with a best throw of 17.26m.
Edwards, who competed for England at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, has a personal best of 20.88m in the event and is still fourth on Great Britain’s all-time list.
In 2011, Edwards was also banned for three years after testing positive for two banned substances.
