The Atlanta Braves advanced to the NL playoffs in 2024 to make their seventh straight trip to the postseason.
Although the Braves lost to the San Diego Padres in the wild-card series, the postseason can only be considered a success because of the number of injuries to the team.
After losing Ronald Acuna Jr. and other valuable players, the Braves made the postseason largely thanks to the starting pitching they acquired from the Boston Red Sox.
Chris Sale was traded to the Braves for outfielder Von Grisson and went on to win the 2024 NL Cy Young Award.
It could have turned out a lot differently, as Sale revealed what his plans were before landing with the Braves.
“Before we got traded last season, we were planning on this year probably being my last playing year,” Sale said, via Foul Territory .

Sall entered the league in 2010 with the Chicago White Sox and played for them for seven seasons before going to the Red Sox for the next six seasons.
In his first season with the Braves, Sale started 29 games and went 18-3 with a 2.38 ERA and 225 strikeouts in 177.2 innings.
Sale added that he decided to homeschool his kids so they could get the full baseball experience throughout the season.
After having the best season of his career, it is not known how many more years Sale plans to play.
