Chris Gayle snubbed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as he picked India’s most successful captain

Former West Indies opener Chris Gayle has named MS Dhoni as the most successful captain of the Indian national cricket team. Chris Gayle admitted that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also done well as Men in Blue skippers, but described MS Dhoni as a trendsetter.

Dhoni is the only skipper to win all three International Cricket Council (ICC) trophies in the white-ball format. The veteran cricketer led the Indian team to the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. He last played for India in the semi-finals in 2019.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained India in 200 one-day internationals (ODIs). The team had 110 victories, 74 defeats, 16 draws. He holds the record for most international caps as a captain. He has captained a total of 332 matches across all formats; India won 178 and lost 120.

MS Dhoni has been the Most Successful Captain – Chris Gayle

In a recent interview, Chris Gayle declared MS Dhoni as India’s most successful captain and added that he has set a trend in leadership. He also added that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have performed well as Indian captains.

“Dhoni has been the most successful captain for India. The guy actually set the trend and overall Rohit Sharma has done his job well and Virat Kohli has done his job very well,” Gayle told IANS.

‘Universe Boss’ Is Just Tougher – Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle humorously commented on the toughest bowler he had faced and said he was not sure if there was such a bowler. He pointed out that all bowlers face challenges as each bowler can take a wicket with just one ball. However, Gayle added that bowlers may be tough, but he is the “Universe Boss” who is tougher.

“Toughest bowler, born or still alive? I’m not sure. So all bowlers are tough because every bowler works and gets a chance to pick a wicket,” Gayle replied flatly.

“Every bowler can take just one ball to get here, but at the same time it’s fun to go up against top-class fast bowlers and spinners. Every bowler is pretty tough, but the ‘Universe Boss’ is tougher,” he said.

There Are Some Quality Retired Players – Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle is currently playing for Gujarat Giants in Legends League Cricket. The left-handed fighter shared his excitement about the tournament. The quality of retired players who participated in the tournament was also impressive.

“I’ve been here for a month and this is my first game. I joined the tournament late, but it was a lot of fun last year, and this year a bit of rain cut the tournament short. So I failed badly as well with a low score; I want to see more fun. I hope they can work on it, but overall there are some quality retirement spots.

“So it’s fantastic to be a part of it again and to share a dressing room with Shikar Dhawan. League of Legends actually makes moves,” Gayle said.
