“Choose them one by one”: Caleb Plant’s strategy to Resendiz Fight

Caleb Plant says it wants to deliver a ‘good performance’ in his headline fight against Armando Resendiz on May 31, and then start choosing the top fighters at 168 ‘one by one’.

Plant (23-2, 14 COs) defend its WBA-TUs-Engineer Super Middleweight title against Resendiz (15-2, 11 COs) in a 12-round fight on PBC Prime video From Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. The event starts at 20:00 ET/17:00 pm pt.

Charlo or Berlanga next?

Caleb says that if he overcomes, he plans to target Jermall Charlo or Edgar Berlanga next. Jermall (33-0, 22 CO’s) fights in the 10-round co-function against Thomas Lamanna on the 31st map. It is still too early to know if plant Charlo will fight next, as a bigger battle can come up.

Last September, Plant Trevor McCumby knocked out in the ninth round to win the 168-pound WBA title on the bottom map of Canelo Alvarez against Berlanga.

“I want to deliver a good performance on the 31st. If (Jermall) Charlo is able to get past his test (Thoma Lamanna) and win, beat him in an impressive way,” Caleb plant said during today’s Virtual press conference For his fight next month against Armando Resendiz on May 31.

Resendiz, 26, was not arranged at 168 as he was fighting at 160. He has the punch power to give plant problems if he does not fold. His two losses came against Elijah Garcia and Marcos Hernandez.

Fight Edgar Berlanga, walk on him and fight Jaime Munguia, Diego Pacheco, or any of the other guys who are there, ‘Plant said.’ Keep picking them down until my name is cemented and I’m in the Hall of Fame. That’s the purpose, that’s the dream. You can only do that one fight at a time.

“What Charlo is going on has nothing to do with me. My focus is on Armando Resendiz. I will let them find out, and I will find out the battle between me and Armando. Then we will go from there. Yes, I will continue to pick them up one by one,” Plant said.
