Chelsea sign Jadon Sancho from Man Utd on loan with obligation to buy

Chelsea have completed the signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United.

The winger joins the Blues on loan with an obligation to buy, with reports claiming the Red Devils will receive a fee of up to £25m.

Confirmation of the deal came at 7.30pm on Saturday, almost 24 hours after the window officially closed.

Sancho leaves united despite returning to Erik ten Hag’s plans during pre-season. After falling out of the Dutchman’s first-team set-up last year and performing well on loan at Borussia Dortmund, he was reinstated into the fold this summer.

However, Sancho he was left out of United’s matchday squad for their first two Premier League games of the season and was subsequently allowed to seek a way out.

Juventus were heavily linked with a move for Sancho, but were ultimately unable to agree terms and have completed a switch to Chelsea instead. He left United after scoring 12 goals in 83 games.

Sancho was born in London but this will be the first time he appears in the books of a club in the English capital. He was in schoolboy form at Watford, who are based on the outskirts of London, before moves to Manchester City, Dortmund and then United.

While Sancho has walked through the gates of Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have agreed to let Raheem Sterling join London rivals Arsenal on loan for the 2024/25 season.
